I love this model. I actually do have a Homebrew Chapter, and even got Pete the Wargamer to make their Chapter Master; the Angels Repentant; sons of Dorn from the tundrous Civilised World of Kaldoris. A large, cold world orbiting at the outer limits of its star’s habitable zone, the icy, boreal world’s fortress-monastery sits at the planets northern pole; where temperatures drop to as low as -180c during the winter, only rising to -90c during the peak of the summer season. The planet’s cold nature makes for a hardy people. Kaldoris shares its star with the Adeptus Mechanicus Forge World Khorus. Khorus orbits significantly closer to the system’s star than Kaldoris, making is a considerably warmer, wetter world; in which deadly jungles choke the land not yet cleared out for additional forges to produce Imperial weaponry and machines. The extremely close proximity of the Forge World and Chapter Homeworld provides a mutually beneficial relationship between the planets; The Angels Repentant have easy access to large quantities of freshly produced wargear, and the Tech Priests of Khorus have a powerful ally only a proverbial stones’ throw away. This arrangement suits both the Forge World and Angels Repentant well, and the two planets have formed a firm bond of partnership, as seen when the Angels Repentant deployed half of the chapter’s forces to Khorus during an Ork incursion onto both worlds during 021.M42. During times of conflict and emergency, the Chapter takes direct control of the planet and its militaries, as to better repel invading forces. During the Invasion of Kaldoris and Khorus in 021.M42., Space Marines were seen commanding vast numbers of planetary defence forces across the planet; Astartes and humans alike. They're also an almost-all-Primaris Chapter, after an unfortunate Crusade went awry. Only one Firstborn Astartes remains in the entire chapter; entombed within a Dreadnought chassis.

6:23 alright I'll bite, here's a bit of lore about my homebrew I'm working on. Born in the 3rd founding and reforged in the 24th, the Imperial Corsairs have stalked the void for millennia. Untrusted for their numerous undocumented raids on Imperial aligned worlds they often face hostility from all but the most forgiving elements of the Imperium, even losing their homeworld Navau to an "Inquisitorial oversight". In truth the captaincy of the Imperial Corsairs wishes for nothing more than to be free from service but for fear of annihilation must keep up relations with powerful elements of the imperium.

Personally I'd paint these guys like this: Prime in black Mix black and a darker steel color Overbrush that all over the armor White fur like some kind of polar animal Medium blue on the pauldron because it's a cool (pun intended in both ways) color. The only thing that they paint. The rest is just dark steel. Skin whatever color Wash twice with nuln oil except face which gets a wash in Howlsbane Curse (half agrax earthshade half reikland fleshshade) to warm it up a bit. Then get some of that original dark steel mix and sponge some of it on places where it might have gotten scraped against something to simulate wear. Highlight areas that might look good highlighted to increase contrast. Base with valhallan blizzard, wash that with a very light blue wash, then drybrush some white on it. Probably could finish up that paint job in about 2 or 3 hours or so including drying time.

Skulpting Pelt and Fur is easier than you'd expect: Simply make the shape of the part with a bigger part of Green Stuff and then start to "fray" the pelt from the bottom to the upper part. Work with a sharp knife with a slim blade, so you can fray the green stuff out part for part, to make it look like real wild hair. If you work from the bottom to the top with that technique, these hair can be layed wildly over each other to get more volume...

I play my own chapter the Albion Knights they are currently all from the horus heresy since a choas sorcereress saw them on prowl for Abbadon so she sealed them away. How each member joins this chapter is they are high born, like knights; and they are raised by servitors till they are 14 years of age they are given to a marine to learn from them. Once the boy reaches the age of 21 they are given a normal sword and put in a arena with another soon to be marine and the goal is to cut off a limb of the other. The winner will go on to become a marine while the loser with have the limb replaced and forced to fight again till they eventually get turned into a servitor Each member takes up a knightly vow and each of them uses a prefered weapon. They are now back on the hunt for Abbadon after getting back into real space after 8'000 years of being in the warp, the mutation they had was to grow bigger than usual marines and to become inflamed with rage seeing choas marines Named characters so far Arthurius Percivalius Galahad Lancer Merlandus

Agreed with the comments about wishing you would start painting, but if nothing else I think you need to grab at least a cheap airbrush for doing a better primer coat on these for the final shots. maybe some of the Iron Patriarcs are fond in melee more than in Bolter fire... or maybe there's 1 melee Patriarch per unit, also, grayish armor and bronce trims could look simplistic enough for the chapter, and the pelts could be to help keep the heat incide the armor.

I feel like it's hard to judge the conversion with only bare plastic and miliput on it. In the past you used to prime them for the end section, maybe you can keep doing something like that? Maybe instead of doing black and white zenithal, you can try priming them with black and a zenithal highlight of the base color you intend for them, so the details are visible but the chopping is much more seamless. Since you've mentioned you don't like painting, that is.

The only real gripe I have about this one is the arm, it's a pet peeve of mine when the arm is posed like that in a stepping movement. More importantly, I feel like a color palate of desaturated cobalt-ish blues for the plates, dark browns for the under suit, and bright, vibrant reds for the trim would be a nice utilitarian scheme. Also, a nice dirty white for the pelt would help to ground them in the winter environment.

If you wanted to help me out with my chaos warband, I'd love it if you tried to make a take at a vampire looking chaos character or something. So far I've only really thought of using the Abhorrant Archregent as a base for a chaos lord conversion, Celestine body to make a sorta more upper class vampire aesthetic for another chaos lord (I actually just finished making it and feel hella proud of it), and Drycha for a Demon Princess just cause I feel like with the right paint job and conversion work I can detract from the nature aesthetic and pull attention towards her humanoid body and make it slightly vampy. But past these three HQs I can't really think of anything, and I'd want something that could help reinforce that theme in my infantry roles.
