Indeed. Thicker sound from the Les Paul/humbucker pickup vs thinner sound from the Stratocaster/single coil pickup. Huge difference.

Pop in the 80s was usually pop-rock, so there's that. And synth pop, which was the 80's equivalent of piano rock like Elton John. So, yeah, 80s pop was really good stuff.

I once passed an upscale restaurant playing the String Quartet Sabbath CD. All these bourgeosie chuckleheads with their Chateaubriand and vintage wine had no idea they were basically listening to "We Sold Our Soul For Rock 'n' Roll" having no clue.

Funny the comercial song Adrian never wrote. And if maiden recorded the trooper sounding like this Steve Harris would have gotten pissed thank God maiden never worked with mutt Lange. As mutt would have wanted maiden songs to sound like this like he ruined Def leopard.

Too complete opposites put together gotta love the humor considering I am a die hard maiden and in the past Bruce and Adrian were accused of bieng the commercial ones in maiden always trying to push maiden in more commercial directions. I guess this Mashup would be the type of song that would have been the more commercial sounding song Adrian never wrote.

@@Andystuff800 yeah if you watch his interviews he explains exactly how he does it and he makes it sound surprisingly straightforward. He’s never combining two truly random songs; he finds two songs written with the same rhythm/musical structuring and that’s the essence of what makes these possible and how they can fit surprisingly well. I don’t know a ton about music but an example is the most common rock beat is “4/4”, where it’s 4 bars of 4 notes/beats each, repeating throughout the song. If you think of 2 or 3 classic rock songs, you can probably count in your head: 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, ..and then you’ll notice that’s precisely when it changes to the chorus, which also fits exactly this timing. PS: the opposite are the most random “time signatures”, bands like TOOL and Mudvayne even switch between multiple peculiar time signatures during a single song, which is pretty cool. Even Master of Puppets has some distinct changes like if you think about the middle breakdown “Master! Master! Where’s the dreams that I’ve been after?”, then the solo, but especially at the end of the solo when there’s a pause, before it resumes with “......It was worth all that”. I remember seeing in Guitar Hero how the music bars would suddenly have this bizarre bunched-up segment during that silence (with no notes 🟢🔴🔵🟡🟠 on them) and I always wondered what it meant, until I learned this.

@@Syclone0044 4/4 is very danceable. After that, 3/4 (waltz) or even 6/8 (military march), although such is FAIRLY rare.. 4/4 is the absolute go-to. I was a music student and was surprised how much of this stayed steeped in my head. I talked with Brian Hazard once, who covered Depeche Mode's "Shake The Disease"- he went from a straight 4/4 to a 3/4 waltzy beat, combining the cover with some composition content from "Shouldn't Have Done That". I guess when you go to school and have enough music theory drilled into your head, it never leaves you

I like the fact they are all wearing matching workout gear (tricot and Spandex) really fashionable these days. 👍 And Bruce dances like she never danced before.

Same as with the Earth, KISS and Fire mashup, McClintock adds another layer to Iron Sembello that just blows my mind: the source materials are from the same year. In the case of "Boogie Wonderland" and "I Was Made for Loving You" both are 1979; in the case of "The Trooper" and "Maniac", both 1983. Little details that just make my day... p.s. Often, the names of your neobands and neosongs are just brilliant! "She's a Trooper", hahaha.
