Iron Warriors Armor Speed painting Guide

This video is a quick overview how i paint a Warhammer Iron Warriors MK III Space Marine Armor from the Horus Heresy.
The Base paint job i show in this tutorial needs around 2h.
For the whole mini including weathering spot highlights and basing i needed 3h 50m.

1. Prime the mini Black
2. Base coat with Vallejo - Gunmetal Grey 77.720
3. Add shadows with a 1:2 mix of Citadel - Black Templar Contrast and Airbrush thinner
4. Drybrush the whole Armor in Circular Motions with Citadel - Ironbreaker
5. Drybrush the armor with strokes from above with Citadel - Stormhost Silver
6. Base coat the Gun casing, shoulder pads and right leg with Citadel - Abaddon Black
7. Paint stripes with a Detail brush on Shoulder pads and the left leg with Citadel - Yriel Yellow
8. Fix the lines with Citadel - Abaddon Black, add your decals
9. Base coat Bullets with - Scale75 - Dwarven Gold
10. Add Edge Highlights to Bolts and focus points with Citadel - Stormhost Silver
11. Overcoat all Armor Parts with a mix of 2:1:1 Citadel - Darkoath Flesh Contrast, Citadel - Contrast Medium and Water
12. Shade the metal parts of the gun (rotor cannon) with Citadel - Nuln oil
13. Add recess shades to all deep recesses with Citadel - Black Templar Contrast
14. Paint glowing eyes and all the details you want!
15. Done!

Those thin hazard stripes are CRISP - I would maybe paint the pauldrons trim brass, but this way also looks great (and is faster if you want to build an army quickly)

darakoth flesh and contrast medium for rust effects? that's a pretty good idea. man i envy people who can paint detailed hazzard stripes. i can't paint a good mini even with my shaky hands but i can't do free hand like that

Thank you, buddy! if you struggle with hazard stripes, take a look on pk-pro shop (link in description). Buy some masking tape in the size you want them. I guess for a marine it should be 1-3mm ones. Simply just do it by masking the area and paint over. On the other hand, its good brush control practice. Use a painting handle, support your hands on the desk. Use thin not thick paint! And go on for freehand and brush control practice!🤟

@musicalDrebin Got it, mate! Trust me, if you already understood the process of glazing and layering. Freehand is not that hard. You should really take a look to train some basic sketching like circles and squares. After that it is much easier.

Its not necessary, if you want to do it anyways. i would go for some stippeling like i did in my emperor´s children video in the fixing purple stuff part. 🤟

Thank you for the feedback buddy! There is not a slight green touch on my model. possibly some Screen settings ? ;)

@@plaguenarr ofc, there is no actual green pigment in there. maybe it's the undercoat or how the light interacts with the color; for me it looks like there's a greenish patina- style effect occuring at around 0:42 at the brightest spot of the chestplate. it's nothing major tho, personally i'd rather take something which hints at a bronze color shift

@@Bizarrnonsense test it yourself and you will see there is no green, i can see what you mean, but i have the model right in my hand. i think its a video artifact. But ofc you can use every contrast wash you want. Darkoath is my choice because of the slight weathering effect it brings onto the model :)
