I saw Iron and Wine for the very first time last night. It was a small venue, a semi tight fit that was Abit uncomfortable at first but once they came on, after Erin Rae who has the voice of an angel the whole room of strangers became comfortable and flowed. It was so beautiful to watch how the sounds of their music touched each person around me. It showed in the movements of their bodies, flowing, beautifully, the hugs and kisses givin to friends during a song, the intense stares watching them as they sang and played. For me, this band touches a part of me that I feel unravels the onion layers that have built up thru the yrs. Just beautiful. Every sound is just perfect for me. Next time. I WILL, get a closer spot. :) Love love love. Laughter, and truth done beautifully.

This guy is just sick. I first heard him at the end of a movie where they did the credits song. Instead of looking for the actor I was curious about I got lost in the song. Then it was over and I had no clue what it was. I remember going nuts searching for it with no luck. Then about 2 years later someone had it embedded in their MySpace page. Now the real question; Why doesn't *EVERYONE* know who *_Iron and Wine_* are? The band has always been great regardless of who is in it at the time/whatever famous musician goes on stage with them just to get outshined by a 50-year old in a flannel or T-shirt with a Grizzly Adams beard way, way before they were popular. Well, 48, but close enough. It's sad to say, if this dude looked like John Mayer or Adam Levine he'd probably be the best selling artist of the last 3 bloody decades. I highly doubt he cares, as for him it really, really seems like it's about the music. As long as he has enough money to put food in his mouth and feed his animals life is just grand. Still, to think that hundreds of millions of people who would love them will probably never get the chance to hear them unless a bunch of current _Legendary Pop/Rock/Country/Folk/Alternative_ like Ed Sheeran, Drake, Levine etc etc spotlighted them on their Facebook and Instagram pages. I mean heck, Ed Sheeran is noted as the greatest non-rap writer in modern times, but I'd could easily make a strong argument for Sam Beam and crew. Lyrically they are right their with the John Lennons, Brad Nowells, Cat Stevens, Ed Sheerans, John Denvers, Dave Mathews, Kurt Cobaines, David Bowies and Princes we've had over the last 70 years. Some people write a great song. Iron and Wine, like the above mentioned, have made hundreds. Oh well, the world has never been perfect for anyone, regardless of what political beliefs you share or disagree on, and if he isn't complaining about his popularity. It's funny to think someone who has sold well over 10 milliion albums with a billion+ online listens while packing shows to the rafter for the last two decades hasn't come close to reaching their _popularity potential_ because they didn't/don't try to look _pretty_ enough, but again, were they to just _sell out_ for one album and tour, good grief, the money these cats would pull in. Then people would go back and listen to their older library like _:The Trapeze Swinger and _"Muddy Hymnal"_ (that was the song that really hooked me for some reason) for example, and bam, they're the next 40-56 year-old version of _"The Backstreet Boys."_ Except if they went a tiny bit more _Pop/Rock_ the songs would still probably all be classics in every demographic over 13, so there's that. Like I said, it is just insane to think about how many people are missing out on these guys. Guess I could share them on social media, but unfortunately my reach is pretty darn limited and I live in an area where Latino, Portuguese and Rap are the preferred listening for most people. Still can't hurt though. Maybe 1 song every two days for a few months. See if I can sell them a few hundred new Albums worth of downloads...

@jaygilbert45466 жыл бұрын
insanetea -Right? I love the whole band with the exception of the cello. The harmonic / overtone "screeching" is one thing. But HOLY INTONATION ISSUES, BATMAN! The dude is FLAT literally ALL THE TIME. Extremely distracting to the point of being annoying. What is it with "Rock Cellists" anyway? I've almost NEVER heard in-tune cello on a rock record (Gordon Whithers from Office of Future Plans being the ONE exception i can think of). Are they all just players who were too shit to hack it playing classical? Here's a tip for all potential future Cellists looking to join a rock band. If you ever had a Cello teacher CONSTANTLY "getting on you" about your intonation, or even going so far as to suggest that you might be TONE DEAF? PLEASE don't torture the rest of us by continuing your ill-advised pursuit of music. It's just not for you & maybe a new hobby would be good.
