He mentions a method of achieving full duplex at 09:43 by hooking an external RF unit into the baseband header. Has anyone seen any examples of people doing this?

I love it. I had been considering buying an RTL-SDR dongle, but this does so much more. I just need to find a more recent presentation (this is nearly a decade old) and see what has changed.

My HackRF One arrives today! Glad I bought it because I made the mistake of buying a YS1 (being new to ham radio and really 'frequency' all together I thought being a skilled Python developer would get me through that experience!) HaHa, I am a noob but I'm leaning this subject matter extremely quick and I'm exceeding my own expectations en masse. WISH ME LUCK!

@TheCessnaDriver The hack RF does not transmit time. You just have to have an antenna connected while it's powered on because there is voltage being sent out to the antenna and I've already fried one by leaving it on for an hour without an antenna connected so you can tell when it's transmitting his light is red. It's not always red.

Hi one and all. I am just looking for a bit of HELP ! I am thinking of buying a HackRF One. But I just need some helpful information. I have seen a thing by the name of the Portapack H2 But is that the same thing as a HackRF One, or is it something that you ADD to the HackRFOne. As I am new to SSR radio, and would like to have something that I can use when I am out and about. As I do NOT drive, I would NOT have any power supply and also it is not that easy to carry about a laptop or even a small tablet. So it is NOT technical information that I am looking for, more like practical information. Bye from John.

So you still need the reader to communicate with the rfid chip to see the LF signal? The rfid chip doesnt emit a signal on its own? not too familiar with how it communicates with the reader. I'm guessing the reader emits a signal that powers the rfid so a signature can be read?
@patrickdonohue530
@patrickdonohue530 8 жыл бұрын
you need to illuminate the chip at its frequency with a tight directed signal with a full duplex transceiver or a transmitter. If you don't have a full duplex transceiver a separate receiver also with a directional antenna will need to be used. Immediately when illuminated (speed of light) the RFID splashes a backscatter return signal that is a reflection of the illumination. Its like shining a light on a road sign at night. The light reflected is less bright than the light shining on the sign. The same with the backscatter.

Hi, I purchased mine about 3 weeks ago, from a Queensland company in Australia. I received it on Thursday. All I get is the first 3 lights. Windows does not recognised it. I thought it might be AVG so I uninstalled it. I am now running RF Analyzer on a samsung tablet using an old 3 port usb hub with a usb 3 power bank powering the 3 ports. Both HACKRF and SamsungTablet are connected via the hub. Now I did hear a tone when I orignally plugged it in. Nothing else. RF Analyser doesnt recognise it. If I press Reset and hold down DFU I get 3 lights. 3v3 RX & TX. Which is a bit odd so I am deciding with or not RMA this. Is there something I have to do to release a driver or something because I paid au$380 for this and Id really like it to work. Thanx in advance

@craigcampbell7638 3 жыл бұрын
Greetings George, I just wanted to encourage you to reconsider. A steep learning curve is really a statement that the learning experience from novice to expert is very rapid. A shallow learning curve is really the grueling experience. The world of Rf is very rewarding and the very dynamic nature of discovery in this field will bring you from listening to Number stations in week one to decoding a home monitoring ankle bracelet's proprietary communication protocol by week 20. The best part is that you will be able to create wild edge case scenarios for learning and it never gets boring.

On pretty much every aspects except hardware designing (assuming that you do not use SDRs for the final design).. Learning SDR (not necessarily HackRF, but it can be enough) is worth the trouble if you are going to do wireless.

There is a book called something like theory and principles of rf from the late 40s that is about 700 pages. It's all over the internet. That book and the world of SDR will take you far. It will give you the answers to most of your questions with the math and practical lab experiments to try out.

Don’t buy it for anything below about 30 MHz. It’s deaf as a door nail, and easily gets overloaded from signals all the way up in GSM bands, as well as the usual FM broadcasts. 8 bits of dynamic range ain’t much. Also, don’t connect large antennas to it - front end has 0 ESD protection, and can be fried by relatively innocuous RF sources.

Good thing I read your comment. I was just about to copy what he said in the video about just jamming a long wire in the antenna jack. I want to pick up shortwave, but I know nothing about antennas; how does one decouple them for protection?

This is not what I expected after reading the title. Someone needs to make a modern "tricks with HackRF". So far I can capture and replay signals and see boats and planes on the map. If someone could post something that shows all the useful stuff it can do like HDMI eavesdropping, spoofing, etc it would be great.

can someone tell me what is the maximum transmission distance of HackRF device ???
@icebrodie
@icebrodie 9 жыл бұрын
SARRA KTITI There are so many factors to that, each band has it's own RF characteristics, a higher frequency travels shorter distances typically, while a lower frequency transmits further. Ideally you are only transmitting if you have a valid amateur radio license from your local RF managing government agency (FCC in the US) I don't know the HackRF's maximum wattage but wattage and frequency will both play a role, especially since HackRF is a broad spectrum device.

"to program for linux and make a distro that works perfectly for my computer" That's some wishful thinking there. You wouldn't be able to do that, trust me I've tried and failed. Sorry, but it takes many, many people a long, long time to make a linux distro.
@Abdega
@Abdega 6 жыл бұрын
If you want a Linux distro that has all of the drivers for your computer, try Ubuntu or Mint, they are the most popular and most likely have the driver support to run on your computer. If you want a distro that has *ONLY* what you need and what you tell it to, you can try Arch Linux, but be warned: it will be VERY irritating first setting up, but it will teach you more about the inside and outside of your computer than anything else
