If you do it properly, it will last for a very long time. Also, the quality of the felt really affects the longevity so the nicer the felt the better it does.

Thanks for this video! What do you think of turning the hat up-side-down, holding it OFF the ironing board, except for the brim and ironing the bottom of the brim?

Yes that is perfectly acceptable. I do it on hats hat need a lot more help.

In all honesty, I don’t know. I haven’t ever tried that. If you want to try it, my suggestion is lower heat and more moisture on the hat. Let me know how it goes if you do try it!

Question, can you shape the hat with an iron? I know this video was uploaded 2 years ago but i hope u can answer 🥲🙏

Yes, if that’s all you have! you would just have to use the iron on the area you want the shape. Make sure it’s plenty warm and then shape it and allow it to cool. Repeat that process on any other spot you want to fix. Make sure you use plenty of steam and not just heat.

I thought all you had to do was steam it. I have a felt fedora and the indents are wrinkled and not sitting right. I need to clean and reshape it, It's 2 years old and hasn't had one yet.

KoolBreeze420, Depending on the quality of your hat you may be able to just steam it, but I have had great luck with an iron from time to time. S^C

@@StartupCowboy Well I think you would call it a mid-quality hat. I was wearing a 100% paper fedora as a trial. They are notoriously known to not look good on people so that is why the trial. I've only ever had compliments so I bought a felt one and I'm very happy with it. I just don't know how to properly care for it which led me to your video. For the paper hat, all I had to do was steam it to clean and it would reset its shape at the same time. Does it work the same with felt?

No I don’t think so. Water would be your best bet followed by oil or leather conditioner.
