Every single time I watch a new scambait video, I find myself asking how anyone could fall for these immensely stupid scams🤦‍♀️🙄 But then I remind myself that these sleazebags oftentimes prey on elderly, who can sadly be very trusting & easily scared into giving $ away. I had a scam phone call like this, and they told me I owed 5,900 dollars in taxes for the tax years 2010 to 2015. I told them I had no income during those years because I lost my job and how could I owe the IRS taxes when I had no income. They said it was a mandatory minimum tax for everyone. They said if I did not pay they would send an officer to arrest me and take me to jail, revoke my drivers license and freeze my bank accounts. I told him that was OK, because I didn't have a drivers license or bank account, and my son was about to throw me out of his house where I had been living because I have no money, so if I went to jail at least I would have a bed and food. He hung up.

What is so damn funny about these scammers, is that 99% of the time, they are hard to understand, due to nasty accents, usually Indian, Pakistani, or some other Middle Eastern accent . The IRS will never accept payments over the phone and they will never call you, demanding any payment or to let you know that your bank funds will be frozen or to tell you that you will be arrested if you don't pay. The IRS cannot and will not take any payment by way of anything you can purchase at Best Buy, Wally World, Target or any other store. ALL IRS CORRESPONDENCE will be through the US Postal Service. Not UPS, FedEx, DHL or any other possible delivery service, but only through the USPS. If you are contacted by any other means than the USPS, you are dealing with a scammer.
