That will never happen because the R188 is designed for operation on the Flushing Line, while the R142/R142A are built to mainline specs. They will receive similar overhauls to the converted R142A's to get CBTC, but will remain 10 cars. Supposedly, some of the R262's will come in 6 car sets, which could allow Flushing Line service when paired with 5 car sets.
