This is a really great Concourse Yard video! Amazingly; I'm happy to see some vegetation growing between the rails, and in the yard. I'm modeling in HO scale a combination 239th Street yard and concourse yard system where I plan to use vegetation in the yard as I recall seeing this back in the 1960s, through the early 70s. (During the evenings back in the early 70s I used to stand and look into this Concourse yard, on Hot Summer nights. I marveled looking at The CC locals, all pretty much R-1- R-9s, with the ancient compressors coming on and off, and many colored marker lights, even mid-train, lighting up the evening). Thanks for sharing.... Excellent video quality, too.

@@Bklynkid52 Yeah! The 1960s through the early '70s was a great time for Subway rail fanning. (I was also a very young adult, late 60s, early 70s). There was a wide variety of ancient, and new subway cars out on the line back then. I remember back in the early 70s standing on the street over The concourse yards on a hot summer evening, just took me back into a time before mine; Just listening to the ancient sounds of the old air compressors and viewing the multicolored marker lights that was still lit on the parked subway cars. This, the ancient gear noise, and the old incandescent lighting added to the feeling of the 1930s to when the R-1 Subway cars first entered service. (One would have a similar feeling before 1964 on the IRT lines. Just viewing the really ancient, wide variety of Subway equipment on the line). Thanks again.

@@geemee3364 Thanks a lot for the vegetation defoliation information, using flatcars... Kind of depressing. (Well I'm still going to model some vegetation in my model subway yards though. This as I do remember seeing some grass, and even bushes and small Atlantis trees, around the 180th Street yards, back in the early 60s. I'm also amazed to see so much vegetation, in this video of The concourse yards).

I used to like this yard because of the r40's and the r42's. It's what makes this yard very cool looking and wonderful to watch. But since they're gone forever, i don't enjoy this yard anymore. It's just isn't the same without those trains.

Also Concourse Yard Stores B trains mostly. Coney Island handles the D mostly.

Concourse Yard stores SOME B trains, just like Stillwell stores SOME D trains. Concourse Shop is the BASE shop for D trains, while Coney Island is the BASE SHOP for B trains. That doesn't preclude either shop from working on any R68/68a or Whatever set that needs it...it's just a 'parts' thing. Part of the reason you don't see R46s on the B as of yet is Concourse doesn't want em...don't want to work on em...no parts there for em. Where ever line cars are associated with, they have to provide part at the shop to repair them when they break down. No 46 parts at Concourse. Plenty at Coney Island, Pitkin..and once at Jamaica. (No more. All R160s now)

I can't speak for today. (There are other many more qualified people, than myself, to answer this question with train Operation today). I can only say that back into 1970s, Several train operators told me that during the course of the day they would usually, work along the same line throughout their work day, with multiple trips.
