What a terrific runner! Not sure about the last downhill 5 min difference, but I also did not look it up. What a show it was, I was jumping on my treadmill, applauding to my screen, when those 2 raced each other trough Vallorcine aid station towards the last climb

there is a possibility mathieu took 5mins on the downhill considering killian will reduce his speed going to the finish line, knowing mathieu cant catch him..

Comments about Jim was important too for us learning more. Jim is a great runner, but always and everyday we learning and he of course become more experient now.

Great interview irunfar and great performance by Mathieu! I was up watching the live coverage for 3 hrs through midnight in my timezone to see he, Kilian and Jim battle it out. The UTMB coverage was incredible this year!; on par with that of the Tour du France.

Mathieu's biggest mistake was not blazing past Kilian and dropping him. Kilian was not moving well at the time, and Mathieu was pacing unbelievably fast. Sticking with Kilian allowed him to reset - and Kilian does what Kilian does.
