Your impact gun is starved for air, you need a high-flow fitting on the gun and a larger internal diameter air hose, then it will run like it should. Air restrictions *anywhere* in the system will give you lower torque. Also, 90 PSI at the tank doesn't necessarily mean 90 PSI at the tool, this is because of hose restrictions.
@Pk3_Garage4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your suggestion. You are correct. I've since then have installed high flow fittings to my air system. What a big difference it made in all my air tools performance. I normally have my air compressor regulator set at 110 psi to achieve the 90 psi working pressure.
@thwaller49552 жыл бұрын
@@Pk3_Garage Just a suggestion as also mentioned by @Pro1er, also look at your hose. Many use 1/4" hose, using 3/8" hose makes a big difference. Also, I use a 25 gallon tank which I find to be ok but still small at times. With air tools with high outputs, you want to be sure and have at least that 25 gallons... 20 gallons I believe is what the manufacturers say.
@gaguilar142212 жыл бұрын
Have in mind, if you use extensions on the impact gun , you actually cut its torque capabilities drastically ...try it with out the extension, and watch the big difference 👍

Those capped lug nuts that chrysler uses are horrible. I worked at a discount tire, and what happens is, water gets trapped in the cap and corrodes the nut to the stud, and corrodes around the nut to the cap. It causes swelling of the cap, making it prone to rounding, while seizing the nut to the stud.
@Joseph-eh4rs2 жыл бұрын
Figure the root cause was related to Chrysler product. I own one and will never again.
@imacrazyguy58316 жыл бұрын
When putting lug nuts on with an impact, use a torque stick. You probably snugged it up to a quick 200-300ft lbs without realizing it and thought that since your wrench clicked it was at 100.
@Pk3_Garage6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. I usually only have about 70 to 80 PSI coming into the wrench and only use medium setting while feathering the trigger while tightening. Once the lug nut is on, I take my torque wrench to tighten the rest of the way. This way prevents over tightening.

I tried these once on a rounded bolt at work. They didn’t work for me, kept slipping off. I ordered the Rocket Socket set last week since I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. If the need ever comes up again, hopefully they’ll perform better. Glad these worked for you, though. Feels good getting damaged fasteners off.

I'm needing a 6mm and probably a 5.5mm since it was a torx but I'm having a little bit of trouble finding a set that has those sizes that I'd wanna buy. The stripped bolt is an external torx that a 6mm hex socket fits on, but it eventually gets larger going down into maybe a 12-15mm or so circle. There's no going back once I cut off the torx head, but I might do so and use a dremel to make the circular part square or hex so I can use a larger extractor. Before I purchase anything to save money I'm considering trying to bang a 5.5mm down onto it and use a 1/2" ratchet and a cheater pipe.

@@Pk3_Garage Once you stopped recording, how long did it take you to get the nut off? Did you use a breaker bar with an extension or something, did you use a pipe on your ratchet/breaker bar for more leverage, did it slip and you had to drive on a smaller nut? What did you do?

@Pk3_Garage5 жыл бұрын
By leaving the lug nut still threaded on the stud, I just wiggled the bolt extractor off of it. It wasn't hard.
@stever58875 жыл бұрын
It varies, but you take any steel rod (about 4"-6" long) that will fit through the square drive on the bottom of the socket, then give it a couple of sharp whacks with a hammer. It normally releases on the first or second hit. You could also use an **OLD** beat-up screwdriver to accomplish this. If it's not releasing, give it a spray of penetrating fluid (such as PB Blaster), then hit the rod again with a hammer. Incidentally, some extractor kits come with their own rod (although I don't believe the Irwin set he's showing us does). Remember, these extractor sockets (also called "turbo sockets") will chew up the outside of the fastener pretty badly, so be prepared to replace it. He used an impact hammer to attempt release, but these are NOT impact-rated. It could have fractured or shattered in use. Irwin does offer these individually as impact-rated; you can find them at various online tool sites, as well as Amazon. For instance, I have a Stock #53916 Impact Bolt Grip 7/8"/22mm socket that is used with a 1/2"-drive impact. If you don't have an impact hammer, you can use a long-handled breaker bar (18" to 24"). When doing this, always wear your personal safety equipment (face shield or safety glasses and work gloves).
