There are actually 5 different Is-2s in the game: standard ruski Is, chinese Is-2, Ruski premium Is-2 (special camo), the second ruski premium Is-2M (modernized Is, looks slightly different), and now the shielded variant. (You could also count the double barreled boi) Edit: I forgot about the object 244 (tier 6 with the 85 mm gun), and you could count the kv-122. So there are actually 8 if you count them all

@@empire-classfirenationbatt2691 It's probably more due to the spacing than anything else. Due to how far the plates are from the hull, it's hard for HE or HEAT to reach all the way to the armor before it detonates early.

They put those all over APC's and such in Iraq as it would cause the RPG's warhead to detonate on the rebar, instead of after it hit the vehicle. This would cause it to slow down a bit in the air it has to pass before it actually hit the armor, severely reducing the RPG's ability to penetrate.

Well, that's how development works IRL, incremental improvements most of the time and a revolution every now and then. Just look at how many variants of Panzer III and IV there were IRL. The Ausf. J you might have read about in game stands for "Ausführung J", which can be translated to variant J. And yes, they started with A IRL and didn't skip a letter. And that's before we even start taking about versions where they would take the hull of a Panzer III or IV and build tank destroyers, utility vehicles and other radically different types on top of it.

The spaced armour of the IS2 S actually makes it worse against AP and APCR. Because of the 2 plates the incoming shell will normalize twice instead of once, meaning the shell will have a significantly better chance of penetrating.

One of my little golden rules is that when the base aim time is over 3 seconds it always gets the gld as I can cope with blindness better than having a gun that constantly struggles especially when there is ridiculously long exposure times involved when the russian number generator is making for toxic play.

Hitting the screen itself *should* allow splash damage anyway, since it's only 0.5 meters from the hull. Hitting it from underneath, tho, means that the explosion is moving away from the target, not toward it.

The 3d model represents an IS-2M - a late war modification of the IS-2. One of the main differences is the sloped frontal glacis plate. From memory, the Chinese model of the tank in the game also represents the later 'M' model, but now Wargaming have both major IS-2 models available for the Soviet tech tree. Representing it with 'spaced' armour enables a slightly different set of stats, thus justifying its inclusion. As the 'M' models were in action later in 1944 and 1945, they were definitely involved in the battle for Berlin, where this ad-hoc type of spaced armour was predominantly used in the vicious street fighting. This spaced armour usually consisted of 'liberated' bedsteads welded to the tank; the springs were enough to prematurely detonate shaped charge (panzerfaust/panzerschreck) warheads.

The IS in the game is actually an IS2(e) if fully upgraded and equipped with the 122mm gun. The original IS is actually using the 85mm gun. The IS and the IS2 are officially designated IS-85 and IS-122 respectively. Also, after update 1.9, the IS no longer gets the 122mm or 100mm from the KV85 when unlocked. You have to grind 20k xp to get the 122mm(turret included) on the 85mm from the KV1Sport

Its actually pretty easy to grind it free if you willing to. There are 3 missions(Be Top 7/5/3 in team with experience earned in regular battle with tier7-10 tanks.) that will give you a 15x bonus battle point token, and you can exchange it to a 15x assault order. Each battle (Tier3) if you completed all missions you can at least get around 1050 per battle, if you got 2 maus at 5th mission you can get around 1800 battle point. each day you can get at least 3000-4000 battle point even thought you just play 3 battles.(ofc you need to complete all 5missions to get that). If you grind hard enough you can get it pretty easily.

I think something a lot of people overlook when talking about engine power is the penalty for the module getting damaged. Let's say you've used your repair kit for your tracks, and you just got shot again, damaging your engine. The engine with the lower power will have a significantly worse penalty because of its lower hp. Sure 600 hp may be fine but he 700 hp engine will perform better when it's damaged.
