I carry a 5 liter paint bucket with very soapy water, brush and sponge. After a fishy/bait mess, crack open the bucket and give it a scrub. If you lets blood and guts dry it's 10x harder to get off.

Boats are an investment so if you put the time and effort in the rewards are there. I think maybe a professional detail if your selling etc but I like spending the time on my boat cleaning and polishing otherwise my wife finds me something to do 😢 Looks great though...great video Cheers

She will always find you something other to do than muck about with the boat!

As long as you accept this a a learning exercise and can start doing this yourself. And, as long as you have the pocket change to pay that much for someone else to do your dirty work and can deduct the cleaning fee as a business expense, the $800 can be digested but it is hard to swallow.

There is always a few stubborn squid stains i could never get out of my boat i actually ended up selling my boat because i was unhappy that i could not clean it and it felt like i was not looking after it properly. I would probably still have my boat today had of i thought of hiring someone to clean it so i think it is worth it even if it is only 1ce or 2ce a year. However as i say this fishing is my only hobby and i pretty well save my money to go fishing instead of say going out for dinner one night so i have disposable yearly spending money if i have not been fishing a lot in the year.

I’m sure you’ve heard BOAT means “bring out another thousand”, but, I do clean my boat every time I take it out even though it is fresh water. The algae lines on the hull drive me crazy. Also, with 5 grandkids and 2 brothers it can be a real mess on the inside and I have to inspect everything to see what they broke this time (looking for a new glove box hinge for my boat now since it “miraculously is broken. But we all had a good time.

You’re looking after something that costs $$ . Your not doing every week but once in awhile keeps the boat looking good

I just got back from the Gympie muster car was filthy best $20 i spent was the car wash saved me more time. A half day fishing trip is more like a 3 day trip from prepping to fishing to cleaning i reckon it would definitely be worth it once in awhile to get it done

I enjoy doing stuff like this, our camping trailer we bought used and had never been waxed in three years. In the maintenance schedule it was to be done three times a year. The fiberglass had oxidation it took several days to cut, polish and wax. My arms were wore out but it looked good. However it is better to pay someone else if you can't get to it then for things to go neglected. I don't like the feeling I get when I'm to busy to keep up with the maintenance on the things I have.

100% worth it if you're putting it up for sale but other than that It's only clean until your next trip out so for that reason no, I'd rather spend 800 on a new fishing combo.

Keeping it well maintained will pay off if you decide to upgrade with resale value. Nice boat

WD 40 has a low odour version although you probably wouldn't notice the original stuff on a boat, it is based on fish oil after all. 😉 PS it's great for removing bugs on the paintwork and it'd get those fish stains off too. 👍

I've never owned a boat, but using a car as an equivalent to compare with, I think it's worth it under the right circumstances. As you said, if you're going to sell it, probably worth it. If you want to and have the time to learn how to do it all yourself, that's great, but not everyone can do that. Those that can't, would probably be well off getting a professional clean done once a year. Those that can learn and have the time, might be able to get away with not getting it professionally cleaned at all, but most people would be able to go in between and do a great but less than professional job resulting in them being able to get away with only having a professional clean done once every 5 years or so. There is one advantage to having a professional clean at least now and then, in that you're getting someone with a fresh set of eyes that isn't used to seeing your boat every day go over it in detail. Wear and tear, decay, and grime building up in that spot you can never quite seem to get to that you've gotten used to seeing and become accustomed to, to the point of being blind to how bad it's getting, will be more noticeable to them. They could alert you to a problem you've missed so you can get it fixed before it gets worse.

No, it is not. I have owned a 2010 stabi for 5 years now. The paint on your stabicraft will eventually succumb to electrolysis areas where stainless meets aluminum. Like the rod holders, for example. In the meantime, spend those $800 on a good salt removal product and just give your boat a good rinse every time.

All pretty valid points Mark, so I would just say I’m jealous I can’t afford it, or leave it dirty and it would make a great fish attraction oversize burley pot Mind you if the fishing is slow I tend to wash it a bit at sea with salt water, then you can get that of with the salt away or similar when you fresh water wash it at home Cheers from down south

He did a nice job. You should barter with the guy. Veggies for a clean boat. For me it is a matter of what you like to do with your time and money. Time is one thing that you can't make more of. I can make more money.
