I paid 5k to get a used engine with 35k miles and trans was rebuilt. Me and my wife made a combined 315k last year. Best investment I made. I’ve had my car since new. As long as you take care of it it’ll take care of you.

I bought a 98 accord . best car ever.

heres my two cents even though i'm 5 months late! i bought an accord in 2022 after i recieved insurance for my total loss. i got it for $1600, with 260,000k miles on it. my first impression driving it home from the sale was how incredibly quiet it was for a 90s car, even on the highway. i had it up until april, and during those two years, i continually discovered more and more that made me fall in love with the car. some of the things i loved; spacious interior, you and 4 passengers can all pack in and cruise in comfort, especially good for road trips if you have AC. the trunk is huge, you can get so much in there, moreso if you fold the back seats down, several times i hauled bundles of 8' lumber. the road feel, the throttle response, it is a very nimble car handling wise, yet it is and feels *heavy*, in agood way. rather than the car jumping up and over bumps in the road at high speed, the body stays exactly where it is and tue suspension just dodges everything. it looks really good for the era, in my incredibly biased opinion, the gen 6 has the best, most classic and subtle looking styling of any consumer vehicle, ever. its every car in one, grocery hauler, you can pickup all your friends and cruise in comfort, its a highway machine. dont even get me started on the v6. in my humble opinion the gen 6 accord is the best vehicle ever made, so yeah, build it up! im currently doing a partial engine rebuild and transmission replacement on one that i got for $400 with nothing wrong except the transmission. unfortunately my original accord was crashed by a friend, i cant wait to get behind the wheel when im done building!!

Awesome comment thanks for posting 👏 I plan on getting a 1999 accord v6 sedan next week. I'm a little nervous because I'm tired of buying cars that break down within a couples of months. It has 156k miles. Hopefully its a good purchase 🤞

I just bought one for 1500, had to get the transmissions fixed for $1700, but now the car is like brand new, I just need to get it painted, and basically I will have a brand new 1999 Honda Accord LX, if the motor, and the air conditioner works great, it’s worth the money, my Honda has like 180,000 miles right now, but Honda cars usually have 300,000 miles, and they still keep on working, I am very happy with my Honda Accord LX 😁

@KevinChinn883 ай бұрын
@soga77 maybe, but I have the same issue and also paid 1500 for mine. I've already cleaned or replaced all solenoids. It's looking like I may need a new one. The last solenoid I'm going to try is the dual linear one. I've already cleaned it but I picked up another from the junkyard. Fingers crossed 🤞
@76okpeople3 ай бұрын
@@soga77 yeah I did that but that wasn’t the problem. The gear kept slipping. What happened was the water from the radiator got into the transmission and that’s what broke down the transmission, radiators should be replaced once every three years to prevent from breaking down the transmission on some cars, not all

My parents bought an 02 Accord 3.0 brand new, and now I've been driving it for the last 5 years or so. It's been a great car. Over the years, all that's been fixed is the alternator, rear wheel bearings, fuel pump, EGR valve, and just a few other super minor things and just regular maintenance. Knock on wood, the transmission on this V6 is still the original one at 300,000 miles. Still rides super quiet and always gets me from point A to point B with no issues!

I've been giving my '02 Accord all the TLC it's needed since I bought it second hand returned from a lease in 2006. Tranny rebuilt in 2016. Fair bit of body restoration as I'm in the northeast. Right now it's getting a new gas tank and rear subframe. Interior still in excellent condition and everything works as it should. You deal with things as they come up. Yeah it's 22 years old - so what? Practically a classic car now. I don't like all the high-tech gadgets in today's cars - I like my buttons, switches, and dials. Hard pass on the touchscreen to control everything. And no sensors screaming and beeping at me. Unless there's a catastrophic failure of the engine or drivetrain, I'm doing my maintenance and keeping my car.

I bought a 2000 LX 7 years ago with about 45,000 miles. Almost 5 years ago I gave it to my mom. The 2 biggest expenses in 7 years: Tires and brakes. The car now has about 82,000 miles. All fluids and filters are kept changed. The car runs perfect, like new. I'll wait a few more years then will do the timing belt/water pump, ect... Otherwise she just puts in the gas and goes. The oil doesn't lose a drop between changes. After I gave my mom the car 5 years ago, I started searching for another 6th gen accord. I found a gem, 2002 SE with 38,000 miles. Same result. I cannot tell you what you should do with yours. Our Hondas came with good maintenance histories. Sorry but I don't know your particular situation.
@justingotto587117 күн бұрын
You can buy a engine for literally 450 bucks at any jdm shop. There all over orlando for example 450 for engine plus 1400 for install and labor. You can always add a tining kit, tune up etc obviously the price can go up but for 3k you would have a brand new engine installed with leas then 60k miles
@justinesportsmedicine93794 ай бұрын
Oil leaking into spark plugs. Head gasket bown. Transmission having problems and that's what you can see. If you have the time, tools, equipment, and know how it could be fixed for a 3rd cost of a mechanic. If not it's only good to sell as spare parts.
@projecthonda3374 ай бұрын
Right, we’re trying to get the job done ourselves. Mechanics are too expensive.

2000 pass me down accord. Rebuilt engine and 89% restored better than rolling out of the factory. Yes great daily car or for first timer. Great great car better than a new Sentra or Kia souls ect ect
@WalterKnox8 ай бұрын
It depends on where you can find the work and how much it is going to cost you. The car looks rough, Not torn up just well used which is to be expected. Sadly, you can't really find these cars dirt cheap like you could five years ago. The question is how much it is going to cost to get the gasket replaced; and how eveything else is. Is there anything else that is fixing to fail? The transmissions in these weren't the strongest, how does the fluid look? When was the last time the timing belt was replaced, if it is old and breaks, bye bye engine? If the fluid was milky, there was water getting into it somehow, which is bad. So at the very least, you are going to need the following items done: Head gasket Valve cover gasket cooling fan. You should probably go ahead and replace the radiator as well because it could be flushed, but if it was leaking water into the transmission as well, that is bad. I would also be a bit concerned about the fact that there was water in the transmission, which could cause issues down the road. Personally, I would probably go ahead and pass it on to someone for a low price who can fix it up themselves, if you are paying a mechanic; you are going to exceed the value of the car quickly.

Wondering how you got 5 lug wheels on a 4 cylinder. All 4cyl were 4 lug and the v6 3.0 were 5 lug. And that little bottle you pulled the cap off of is the power steering fluid bottle

Honestly bro, no. I’m a Honda fan but 300k miles…it did you well. I would fix the fan and try some blue head gasket sealant. Then drive it till it drops. That’s IF the sealant works. You can gamble on a junk yard engine for about 1k if you’re willing to keep the car but most of everything else is worn. Look for a used 4 cylinder civic/accord 8th Gen. You can probably score one for 3-6k depending on the mileage. Some of them still have a lot of life left in them.

I'm currently in the process of getting maintenance current on a 2000 LX. I paid $4k and after it's all said and done, I will have paid $7.5k. I figure that if I drive it for five years and keep it under 6k miles a year, I'll end up having driven a really reliable, comfortable car for under $2k a year. And who knows? I may be able to end up keeping it a lot longer, which will end up dropping that yearly cost. I'd say it's worth getting it fixed, especially in this era of $700/month cars.

I love my '06 Acura TL. The only thing's I don't like is the turning radius. It's like turning a battleship around. The gas mileage, but for a car that has effortless acceleration it's reasonable.
