In this video, we're going to take a look at a Game Boy Advance reproduction cart I got from aliexpress for just $1.97 shipped. We are also going to take it apart and see exactly how it works. Is it worth it? Twitter: / f4micom

I am a big Ninlendo fan growing up we couldn't afford Nintendo so Ninlendo was the next best thing.

For me it was Nlnlendo.

The reason it takes longer to save on the bootleg is because they patched the ROM to write the save to the ROM itself (not write protected), and write it from the ROM to the SRAM on powerup. That way it will hold the save when powered off, and they save a few cents on not using a battery. as SRAM needs to have a battery to retain the save. Most gameboy advance games used FeRAM/FRAM, they are like SRAM but retain the data when powered off. If you want the game to have the latest translation patch, you could replace the existing game with the help of a GBxCart RW. and solder on a battery to get rid of the save lag (you need to also move the solder bridge from N to Y).

I own two repros and have never encountered this issue. I guess I lucked out as these were higher dollar repros ($17 for Mother 3 & $10 for Oriental Blue) Both save really fast and they still hold the save well after I finished the games. I backed them up using a homebrew rom dumper that happened to including save backups as an option in case. You can never be so sure these days.

ooh.. I would be concerned about write cycles to the flash.

Ninlendo is my favorite company, because they made my favorite game of all time: Phythn Heaven Castlevania Doublepack! A classic...

Thanks for the video, I recently buy a game boy advance sp with backlight illuminated and is so cool, but the original games are so expensive. I was looking for videos like this so I can spot and know the differences between original and bootleg games. I really like your videos

If it is only that price, and you know what you are getting into (reproductions not being the best quality, some not saving properly & erasing your save game even if the game supports them) then can be a cheap little bit of fun. In my experience, have gotten two fake copies of Pokemon Fire Red back in 2010/2011 or so, before i knew what real & fake ones were. Certainly was unhappy when i'd gotten my charizard up to level 90 something twice over, only for the save to give up the ghost. But of course know the difference these years later, real ones cost an arm & a leg, so i've gotten a GBA flashcart & have the ROM on a fair few other devices, along with the rest of the mainline GBA Pokemon games from how much they cost. In this case, was worth that cheap price back when you had gotten it. If something happened to it, you wouldn't have missed out on much from it being that price. So really it'd depend on the game, and so long as you know the potential risks of the reproduction/knockoff carts.

gba flashcarts also cost an arm and a leg lmao
@huleeyaxerssius72 жыл бұрын
@@shartlord It depends what ones you get. Are some knock-off ones, that aren't that good but are cheap, this GBA one i use is the ez-flash omega & can be about $100AUD or so, which isn't that bad. But the best ones, the Krikzz Everdrives, they sure do cost you an arm & a leg at the moment. Would like to get an Everdrive GB X7, but sure not going to get one that's like upwards of $300, prices are silly. Another alternative, is the ez-flash junior. About the same price roughly, but i'd say those would be pretty good GB/GBC flashcarts as a second option.

@@huleeyaxerssius7 honestly for gba/GBC I emulate on my ds, for rom hacks I use my ps classic, I'm a bit of a cheapskate haha
@huleeyaxerssius72 жыл бұрын
@@shartlord I emulate GB, GBC & GBA on whichever one of my DS'es i'd want to at a time, the flashcart i'd mentioned, my PSP, Vita, a good few android phones, and PS Classic i got for cheap new. Nothing wrong with doing that, so whatever works good for you there is what works
@ReavenZero2 жыл бұрын
While they are cool, one could just get an EZFlash, right? Although those are much more expensive than a plain old Repro.

The batteries on repo carts can corrupt/ delete the save list 24 hours on FF tactics this way
