Recently bought the Uniden R8 with Auto Mode and Quiet Ride on and set to 35 mph it rarely goes off anymore, especially in my driving area. Uniden R7 is the better bargain of the two.

At 3:40 in you are talking about and touching the clear plastic piece and what let’s the signals in from the side? This is a dual horn detector, you have front and rear facing horns (wave guides) that direct and deliver the signal to the detector. When you have equal dB levels hitting both horns that’s when you get the side arrows. The clear piece on top you’re touching is in fact a light pipe for the auto dimming feature for the display, less performing version of a fiber optic to the photoelectric that controls the display dimming.

X80 Escort does everything minus direction of where its coming from but are you gonna take that chance? Half the price plus you can program to KA band only through the app once its programmed its done! Don't have to do anything after that!

Looking at this to upgrade from an original V1 (lights up constantly on K band) along with the V1Gen2. Do you notice anything on the MultaRadar bands? I like the info on the display with this and the fact it talks etc.

This radar is very customizable, honestly you can set it up to alert you the way you want it to. The new update also makes it very quiet because it eliminates a lot of false readings.

Yes you have the ability to auto-mute based on location. I’m not sure it detects aircraft…

No Clutch Garage, even thou the cop doesn't have their radar on it doesn't mean he or she will pull you over for speeding. To show proof you are speeding they have to have their radar on to catch you or either be pacing you from behind without a radar to pull you over for speeding. You said you use have the Escort 360 is it true the new Escort models have radar jamming capability? A coworker of mine was telling me that he bought a portable Escort radar detector i forgot which model he bought but he told me it jams radar signals as well which i didn't believe because radar jamming is actually illegal to have any where in the state and why would a reputable company put radar jamming in their units anyway if its illegal to have?

Future reference that little glass thing on top of the RD that you said was side detection is actually a laser detector, it determines the signal from the side depending on how strong the 2 antennas are, so if both are getting like 50% signal then it’s to the side, but if the back antenna or the front antenna is stronger than the other then it would show you the arrow to the one that’s stronger

During the worst of covid last year in north Carolina the highways didnt have the usual traffic and definitely the highway patrol and local cops were not out trying to write tickets..dont believe the comments that say during the worst of covid that cops were writing tickets...those cops were scared to death...earlier this year in north Carolina the western commanding officer said how many tickets the highway patrol didn't write..it was in the millions and millions of dollars in the red...he said publicly that if his officers dont start writing tickets that he will fire the supervisor sergeants first then he will fire the patrolmen..that's a quote

I lived in Florida for 45 years and had a top of the line escort detector since 1986....I haven't seen a K band highway patrol since 2001...it was at the weigh station south of Belleview Florida....it was a commercial carrier state patrol crown Vic....a few years ago they got rid of the paint scheme of the commercial carrier white and blue ..now everything is brown and beige.....I don't believe you got a K band highway patrol....there counties in Florida that use k band but its very unlikely you got a K band highway patrol....in north and north central Florida the highway patrol have ka band in frequency 34.400 to 34.450...that a rare almost impossible frequency...in banding a detector it needs band 2 4 5 7......you may have got another cop car using k band or a false alarm near a highway patrol but its less than 1% chance you got a K band highway patrol

I've used radar detector since the very first detector the "Fuzz Buster" and currently using the R7 which has saved my butt numerous times. BUT, another great tool to use is Waze on you cell phone, that too has saved my butt probably more than the R7.

If a cop has their radar on constantly, it shows they are ignorant and lazy and haven't been trained properly. When I went through academy, they actually brought the engineers and sales staff from Kustom Signals and MPH to train us how to properly use the devices. Just sitting on the side of the road with the radar running was not part of the training.

It’s sad that that particular practice is very common where I live. Some other do a laser blast every now and then but most people here don’t own a radar detector to begin with. But I completely agree with you. In any case, these are good radar detectors, and well, maybe some cops just need better training lol

So that clear thing up top is actually the rear laser detector. The R7 actually has no side detector and uses the intensity/phase of signals coming from front + back and does some math to determine direction.

According to their very own manual, the front and rear have their own sensors, which I can confirm as I have taken this thing apart. The top clear is claimed to be there to allow the side detection, this why it can’t tell you whether it is right or left as there are no individual sensors for the sides. It also serves as the dimmer sensor window.

I would also recommend going over to Vortex's KZbin channel. Has some great information for you. BTW double check unless your in OH or NY X Band is not used, so you turn it off to increase performance. Nice video 👍 I like the presentation format. Great work and editing.
