Is a flood a punishment from God?

The Holy Quran mentions floods as a punishment from Allah in the time of Prophet Noah on whom be peace. Islam teaches belief in all the Prophets of God as well as Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Prophet Noah was one of these. Muslims also believe that a flood came at the time of the Sabeans in the ancient Kingdom of Saba.
