That is such a cool KITFOX dude! I love your build!

Solid review. Its interesting hearing the speed you are cruising at, I've obviously had my plane configured in a ton of different ways but I have always lived in the 100-105mph range (ever since I went to the bush gear, even with the standard wing), I am wondering why you are any slower than mine was with 100hp. What RPM do you cruise at and what fuel burn? I always have aimed for 5500rpm at about 5gph, which always puts me around 100mph over the ground. Either way, solid review, keep up the videos!
@7KiloFox2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Takeoff is 5700 rpm. Cruise I'm doing the full 5500 and about 4.5 gph depending on weight. If I start to coarse out the pitch then my takeoff roll starts getting long. Lauren says I'm slow because my gear aren't covered. But I'll have to experiment some more. What climb rates do you get at high gross weights?
@jhmcglynn Жыл бұрын
Trent, I’ll listen to the review soon but i owned an 80 hp model IV Speedster. I cruised at 100 mph at 5300 rpm burning < 4 GPH. It had two 14 gallon tanks plus a 2 gallon header tank behind the seats. Bottom line it had more range than my JABIRU powered RANS S-19 which cruises at 115 mph at 6 GPH with a 24 gallon tank. I miss my KITFOX😀

Been following your vids all the way from the start of this build and the amount of work and detail and dedication that you put into this has truly inspired me, I mean I can barely walk in a straight line half the time let alone fly an airplane but your journey thus far enriches my need to fly on a daily basis. Thank you for that.

Hi, I found a KIT FOX 4 hidden in a Barn !! I don't even fly, but I bought it anyway !! came with a trailer too. $4500 what a BARN FINDER !! All built and ready, just a minor engine part, and a annual check and its good to go !! I've dreamed of this plane, and for years I watched it on you tube. Just wishing and dreaming of doing that. Well BAAAAAMMM !! it fell right in to my lap. My friends father passed away, and she sold it to me !! I promised I would fly it !! and then flip it to the right person !! Wow. thanks for the video nice plane.

It’s a good looking plane you’ve built! I also like the Just Aircraft Super STOL……….it’s hard to decide between the speed, super slow great fun or the faster for actual use and speed.

I am looking to buy some land and I want to build a Kitfox not sure of the model yet except that I want 7 series model. In your opinion what is the shortest length field that you would consider for take offs and landings. Also what would you feel to be a comfortable length. I live in Texas and I am talking about a relatively flat grass turf or dirt landing strip.

Interesting to hear that you are only getting 77 knots cruise. I have 40 hours on a Kitfox 3 with a 582 and I adore it. I cruise at 70knots with 218kg useful load (480pounds ) and the cost is a fraction of this beast. I bet I'd be off the ground sooner too ;) . I would definitely love a KF4+ and would kill for a baggage area like that though.

Been following for a while. Enjoyed the series a lot. This was one of the fastest first builds I have seen. Good job, love the paint. I remember the Speedster with that round bump cowl and the Rotec engine. Thought it was gorgeous, but then I saw the reality of Rotec. It's a shame, but putting a flat engine under that beautiful bump cowl is kinda akin to putting a Volkswagen in a Lambo. It works but WHY. Eventually got to like the Zenith 650. Good looks, simple build, great kit and reasonably low price. The Fox is a great plane. It flies well, is reasonably economical, and is a lot of fun. I've seen em go where even a Cub would think twice and l've seen em bite it because it can inspire overconfidence ( course, some pilots are just jerks ). As you've seen, it can be a handful in turbulence and they don't swim so well. But flown well I think it's a very capable bird. About the only complaint I've had is the seats are a little uncomfortable sitting on a chute. But then I've not flown one with adjustable rudder pedals. Had any thoughts about putting yours on floats. Fla's a great place for em. Have fun. Be safe. Keep the vids comming.

Absolutely gorgeous airplane. I’ve wanted a camo Kit Fox and you beat me to it. Freaking love it! Question. Honestly how hard is it to build one? I’m tossed between doing it and having the factory do it. And as it sits, how much do you have into it?

Now that you've built a fine aircraft using a Kitfox kit. Would you do it again or use another manufacturer kit? I remember numerous time during your videos that you mentioned poor quality in things such as tolerances. Powder coated components that had to be reamed out to fit. poor engineering is what it sounded like.
