Thank you for your realistic battery results. Have had quite a few tech youtubers say it's battery life is bad followed by saying I had at best performance mode and full brightness and only got about 5 hours on it. I was like the average consumer doesn't use a device like that. 😊

For display reflections, I'd recommend getting the Auto Dark Mode utility, to switch to light mode during the day and dark mode during the night. This will also save you battery life, and as a bonus is also better for your circadian rhythm.

I've owned two Surface Pro devices (The original RT model and the SP4, which I'm currently using to type this) and also have a Surface Laptop 4 as my current daily driver, but man, am I tempted to get the new SP11 and go back to the 2-in-1 factor. I've been watching countless reviews for the last few days and yours sealed the deal for me. The only "issue" left is deciding if I should get the Plus model or the Elite model due to its OLED screen. I've never had a laptop with an OLED screen, which is why I'm tempted to shell out a bit more since I'm planning on sticking to the SP11 for years before buying a new machine again.

In general, if you have room in your budget, I'd say go for the OLED, tbh. Even if not dramatically different, it does look very nice. Plus, the X Elite will give you some extra performance headroom for a few years from now. If you don't have an extra $400 - $500 lying around though, try checking out your local large electronics shop to compare in person. If display type is the main concern, seeing both side-by-side will likely be a good way to make an informed decision.

Looking at purchasing a Surface Pro 11. I have been watching lot of reviews and this is absolutely the best review I have seen. I have a dilemma in getting either XPlus or XElite. My usage will be mainly productivity and I think I should go with the XPlus variant. Thank you for your advice.

They're honestly still really nifty devices. I sometimes take out my Surface 2 just to fiddle with it and admire how small it is.

Thanks for this review. I have an intel Surface Pro 8 and on fairly simple tasks say email, web browsing, KZbin playback with around 70% brightness I would get about 4-5 hours out of it. From the sounds of it in a similar work load the Surface Pro 11 would get 8+ is that right in your view?
@GameXData11 күн бұрын
That's correct. Individual experiences may vary slightly, but I've typically had no problem getting at least 8 hours on a charge for less intensive tasks. For my scripting sessions (where I have Word open with a few tabs in Edge), a drain of about 10% per hour is fairly typical.

I love mine! I got the LCD one in blue with the Bluetooth keyboard and pen. I have a few issues with it like when I don't use it for a while, it doesn't want to wake up or wakes up but I can't see the screen. I have to press the power and volume buttons at the same time to reboot it. Also, sometimes the picture (on a video) turns extremely saturated for a few seconds when the video starts playing then it gets normal. But I'm outside the return window and anyways, I love it. I took it to a 3 day convention and took notes with it (odly enough, I typed the notes instead of hand write them. It is a much better experience than my M4 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard. The iPad will not stay on my lap without tilting backwards unless I hold it on both sides of the keyboard with my hands.

The Windows Dev Kit 2023 with Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 worked for most of my use cases including office productivity, development / programming, media consumption, running VMs and some light gaming. My workaround for Google Drive was to use the web app version. Initially via Edge as that was arm64 based, but later Chrome, once the arm64 binary became available. It's clunky compared with the desktop app, but you can still move files back and forth between your Google Cloud storage. I also run Duo Lingo via a Chrome browser web app, because the speech pronunciation exercises don't work on an Edge based web app.

Wow, what a great review and presentation, simplifying all average user needs. Thanks. One question though, regarding the use of copilot on surface pro 11 , is it smooth and performance not effected on the X Plus ? Is it recommended to use AI features on the X Plus, or worth upgrading to Elite and the price difference between them?

I own a surface pro 9 , bought it 2 months ago. I am really disappointed in the Battery life of the device. I tried all i can to optimize the relation between battery and performance (am also laying with Quick CPU for the past week or so) but i cannot make the device last more than 4H if i use some more moderate application with 50-60% brightness. Looking at the review i see that the new ARM processors are not a total game changer either .... ? Using Fresco on the Pro9 vs Pro11, what is the soar difference from your point of view ?
@GameXDataАй бұрын
I can answer that in three parts. The first is that the main differences between the Pro 9 and Pro 11 for me are the inclusion of fans and a more performant processor. The fanless design of the Pro 9 makes it hyper-efficient for certain tasks but also causes it to heat up like crazy when pushed for an extended period of time. My Pro 11 has much better thermals due to an integrated fan but the X Elite processor inside also has a higher wattage than the SQ3 when pushed. So, it's a bit of a mixed bag that depends on the circumstance. The second part is that these devices only have approximately 50Wh batteries. To get more than 4 hours of battery life, the entire system (including the processor, display, fans, etc) needs to run less than an average of 12.5 Watts per hour. That's an insanely difficult task for certain applications that require more processing power, especially within a thin tablet with limited cooling. For that reason, optimization is key; not just for ARM processors but for the software's code in general. Which all relates to the third part, Fresco has historically been bad at power management for me on my Surface Pro 11. Every time I launch it, it forces my device into Best Performance mode and feels a bit more resource intense than necessary. By comparison, CSP (despite not being ARM optimized) has been a bit lighter to run. Likewise, using Premiere Pro and Photoshop for less intense editing has drained the battery a lot slower (equivalent to 6 - 8 hours of battery life). For any of the applications, I am able to do tasks that will drain the battery much quicker. However, Fresco is the one app that's felt like it's needed to be optimized a bit more.

@@GameXData Ah this makes sense now. It's my bad that when someone mentions the SP9 i always think about the intel variant, not the arm one. This is more logical, comparing the old arm version to the new on. I went for the intel variant so there were no limitations regarding software use. The Battery Life, unfortunately is really bad. Will evaluate this unit first and see if down the line there is some place for an Arm Surface Device :)

Personally, I'm waiting for the Lunar Lake equipped Surface Pro. Windows (and Linux) on ARM arrived far too late for me.

It's too expensive than M Series Apple like MBP or Air. How come Microsoft can beat Apple? Meanwhile stull bugs on some app
@GameXDataАй бұрын
I'm not sure that's true. As I show in the video, the X Elite Surface Pro 11s doesn't cost much more than a MacBook Pro. Considering a Surface Pro is also a bit more modular with a stylus-enabled touch display, Surface Pros also arguably offer more features for the price. Also, tbf, I've probably experienced more compatibility issues with MacOS than Windows on ARM. With WoA, folks are disappointed that it only supports 90% - 95% of the mainstream applications available. Meanwhile, MacOS has maybe had 75% compatibility with all the apps I use. It's been kinda frustrating, actually.
