Unfortunately, companies say they require graduates with degrees, for jobs that in noway require them.
@RhetoricalMuse2 жыл бұрын
That's because degrees are supposed to demonstrate the capability is there to go through the ranks (it's cost effective for the company). Hence forth why job adverts also state 'or relevant experience'. Unfortunatley, the latter takes longer than the former.

I'm a 2.1 University Criminology graduate. I did my second degree in Child Nursing, passed my final year exam's set up for a first...only to get to the point where I couldn't afford to commute to my nursing placement at the end of my final year. This was exacerbated by Middle Class students protesting they didn't want any debt, and wanted the bursaries back. This made it completely impossible for me to return, as I would have had to feed my family, and commute to placement with 700 pounds a month, down from 800. Thanks to the Middle Class, again ensuring Nursing can only be accessed by those privileged enough to have money from the bank of mum and dad. I'm working at Primark! Primark are happy though, not every retailer can say they have a second aider, rather than a first, working with their customers. 🤬

Thank you, practical skills should be thought in school. For instance alot of employers requires you to be good with excel, why is Excel no taught to high standard as one of courses offered on curriculum? So its crazy, you leave school and remain unemployable!

This comment is not an informed one because it doesn’t work as you described it. You wish many of this folks you are referring to arnt brighter than you. Just cos you are lucky to be born in a country with leaders who mean well doesn’t exactly give you the right to talk down on people with lesser to no opportunities to improve their lives. In the end we’l probably find out you haven’t contributed to the the development of your country in any particular way. Like I said, you might have just been lucky to have opportunities cos you happened to be born into an enabling environment! That doesn’t make you better than anyone else really.

So you've narrowed it to chances of employment. You sad no good to themselves or the country. There is more to a broad education than getting a job. It is about having a better life, wider experience and social circle. University graduates divorce less. They commit less crime. They lead healthier ,happier lives.
