Changing the CPA requirements isn’t the solution to the profession. The solution is higher pay

I don't think it's worth it. Everybody I have met in accounting is passive. Aggressive, the females are angry and Refuse to help you. If you ask questions and they tell you if you have any questions ask they never answer. Nobody is there to teach you anything. Public is awful, but so is industry. The seniors and the senior managers don't have time to train anybody. The partners are conceited at only profit driven. You will not be promoted unless you move out to a different firm. Overall, nobody is your friend and nobody even tries to be your friend.

Well said my friend. I 100% agree with you. One of the main reason I quit my job is that when I asked them a question they would be like “you didn’t take that in class?” The females were so mean to me and belittled me and made me feel like I was stupid and it was only an entry level job so they new form the beginning I was new.

Accountant here, I hate to be so cynical but all 3 accounting roles I’ve held include negative women and passive men. The women in accounting can be cold and calculating while the men just can’t communicate effectively. A senior trained me for 1 month and basically left me for dead after that. Everything was thrown at me to figure out alone. She’ll send half ass answers and do the bare minimum to get me through. She has a reputation to uphold (recently she was promoted) so she needs to answer questions to look good. She only trained me so she didn’t get the extra workload, so management can now just dump it on me, which they did not hesitate to do.

The morale of the story is that accountants don’t have the emotional intelligence nor relationship building skills to make it on a team. They could easily start a business but team building and effective communication are not strong points. CPA’s are smart but they really don’t understand the human aspect of teams.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! I’m planning to take the CPA (my major is accounting) but want to eventually switch over to Corporate Finance. Do they think a CPA has a chance to switching into FP&A at all? Or is that rare? The only reason I don’t want to take the CFA is because of the longer commitment.
@alexgu3492 Жыл бұрын
Hey, I am not sure. I can’t say for sure but I haven’t seen much CFA license holder where I work. I feel like having a CPA will go a long way.
@AgeofWonder_7 Жыл бұрын
Ok. I guess my question is it common to jump from accounting to finance? But thanks for answering my question - congratulations on being a dad!
@therobg663211 ай бұрын
@@AgeofWonder_7the CPA licensure is definitely well respected in both the accounting and finance roles. Your CPA will not go unnoticed when applying for finance roles. Definitely will give you the upperhand against other applicants. You will be fine!

I can see why accountants are hated lol we are so bland and boring. No offense but I say that as an accountant myself. I honestly don’t fit in, most accountants are selfish heartless pricks. The industry will make you lose hope but the people really drive you to want to die. I didn’t go for the CPA yet bc I’m short credits. I would sit for it if I didn’t work full time and qualified with 120 credits. It’s easier to find a job when you’re a CPA, plus you’ll get higher positions more easily.
