They usually prefer people who major in Mathematics or Physics or Statistics or Engineering as it is very competitive and requires a strong foundation in degree level Mathematics. It is a very hard designation to get. There is no set pass mark like 40% to pass the exams. With each exam, the pass mark will vary because it depends on how well everybody has done and only the top few people pass.

Is there any institute for this course?? I've head about (Institute of acturial science of India, in Navi Mumbai) but didn't get much photos or videos of it. Or we have to study from home and prepare for exams by self like you told SA1....etc.????

You need to take membership with actuarial institute (like IAI) to take actuarial exams. The institute conducts exams, but preparations and all we need to do on our own. You can check IAI website for further info. This is just like how we have ICAI institute in India for CA students.

You need to have atleast a Bachelor's degree and so it is not something that you can pursue after 12th. Most people complete 2 to 3 exams while they are doing their graduation. It is a very hard qualification and so unless you are very good in calculus, writing proofs etc. do not opt for it. Only 40-50% of people manage to get the designation.

Indian students usually go for IAI or IFoA. IAI- lower expenses, but exams difficulty level is high Ifoa- expensive, easier exams, has global recognition. You can choose as per your preferences. Visit the websites of both institutes and then decide.
