Can anybody tell me why I'm watching Brittish dudes burn coal in their heater stoves? I live in California and have natty gas central heating, this makes no sense. I searched for this! It all started with a dude in Pennsylvania burning "nut coal" in his multifuel central heater stove. I am so confoozed.

I use them on top of Newheat coals. I found that Aldi coal doesn't burn as well and often goes out.

Good vid. Will have to head down to Aldi to pick up a bag!

@Freddie-Moses Newheat, Do not use anything with petroleum in it burns hot, No ash but distorts firebars, Burnrite being the culprit!

Buy from your local coal merchant for a better quality smokeless coal.

You paid £5.99 twelve days before I purchased some in Milton Keynes and I paid £6.49 for a 10kg bag. I think I got robbed.

Nice. What did you use to get the fire started before adding the coals?? 🔥
@Thetomrichardson29 күн бұрын
Thanks, just a bed of hot ashes from the wood that was on it prior to the coals being added.

I've used Aldi coal. On a open fire. Burns ok but loads of ash. Lidi coal is much the same. Both the same price £6-49.

Basically, re-packaged Brazier, a CPL product. No doubt Lidl's is exactly the same, just a different bag.

Hi Tom, thank you for sharing. I just bought a bag from Lidl's for the first time as all the logs were sold out. It is quite interesting that neither Aldi's or Lidl's list any information about what they are made of, the whole reason why I came across your video. Just curious, do you personally prefer Aldi's or Lidl's?
@Thetomrichardson19 күн бұрын
Hey, I’ve never used Lidl, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same just in different bags 💼

The Aldi coal is utter garbage, half a bag and it just doesn't burn. Stove barely got hot, never enough to boil a kettle. We can get 1.5litres boiling every hour on wood, about the same weight of wood and the room is hot. Little Thurlow multi fuel stove. No bottom air for wood, only bottom air using the coal. £3 of wood goes a lot further.

Wood is a better option. A wood stove is generally considered carbon neutral, meaning it releases roughly the same amount of carbon dioxide when burning wood as the tree absorbed while growing, making it a relatively environmentally friendly heating option compared to fossil fuels; however, factors like wood sourcing and stove efficiency can impact its overall environmental impact. Of course, it presupposes that the trees are replaced and that the trees are sourced relatively locally.

Who in God's name still counts their money in pounds in Europe? Euros are used in Europe, but anyone like the Americans who still counts distances in miles and measures in feet and inches is still living in the age of the 18th century British imperialism, which is actually outdated and long gone!
