@nocturne6320 Жыл бұрын
This mod tackles the issue of adding these overhauled biomes really well. Previous mods would make these into entire dimensions, but that's IMO a bad practise, because most of these mods never provide enough content to justify an entire dimension. Alex's Caves on the other hand solves this brilliantly by making them into large biomes instead, only thing I wish for is that the size of the caves was somewhat guaranteed, in a sense that they will always be big. Since, as you showcased, you might come across very tiny ones, which is not really good considering how rare they are.
@inexistentspecofdust995110 ай бұрын
Very late reply, but you can edit their size in the mod's config, in 'generation' there's an option to choose how big the biome should be in blocks, and another to choose how irregularly shaped the cave will be (if you set it to zero the biome will be near perfectly circular)

this mod is ABSOLUTELY insanely high quality, I popped in to look at progress here and there, and... its got such a unique energy, it kinda captures the essence of old wacky mods, with the nukes and dinosaurs, except... its REALLY high quality and polished! @@decomposedcorpse5186Coding a Minecraft mod is not the same as expanding the base vanilla code of the game. New Minecraft features have to go through massive play-testing runs as well as balancing over many snapshots. They cant be too flashy to not feel like Minecraft but shouldnt be too boring to not be interesting. They have to not destroy other aspects of the game logic and fit into the lore while still not breaking when they interact with other features. They have to be easy on performance for low AND high end users and not forgetting that most of what Minecraft is doing WHILE doing updates is allowing modders to improve their modding environments by making the game more Modder friendly. This is coming from someone who has experience in game development ass well as plain Minecraft modding/playing. The Minecraft devs are not lazy they are just trying very hard to eliminate every bug possible. There is a reason Minecraft rarely has any game breaking bugs after updates unlike other games...

This is undoubtably one of the best mods I've ever played, the way it integrates classic mod staples into a cohesive experience is exactly what I want in a mod, and the upcoming plans make me even more excited for it's future. Only complaint is that the red magnet crystals are rather janky (but i appreciate the effort that went into it). I'll list the stand-out mechanics with the upcoming caves, I really like the ideas (especially the outer space one): Lilliputian: You can shrink to a fraction of your size (...or possess a little guy to use as an avatar? It wasn't very clear.) Greek: Powerful mythological enemies that drop powerful weaponry + Structures Microve: Some sort of mold disease...? It's a bit vague Western: Gambling and Bounty hunting Space: Zero-gravity and/or gravity manipulation, outer space blocks that might look similarly to end portal blocks Afterlife: Agricultural emphasis, along with a way to cheat death Flesh: Creepy enemies and organ structures Candy: Craftable enemies (that you can have fight for you..) Dynasty: Tameable rideable dragon Heaven: Golden apple trees + artifacts Spiders: I'm not very sure on this one.

Alex's philosophy, at least with the end, is the majority of players never even go the end in their playthrough.
