Is an Alibaba CO2 Laser Engraver Worth It in2024?

A very risky move indeed, but did it pay off in the end? My laser journey is just starting and I can't wait for what's ahead of me already.

I bought the identical machine but 100W. It cut 1/2" MDF right out of the crate and impressed the heck out of me. The Ruida had no problem working with my MAC. Regarding support, I did have an initial problem and they were quick to ship replacement parts. I have since upgraded to a larger 100/80. I would def recommend a China Laser. You might have to make some minor structural modifications as the cabinetry is light gauge, but you save a lot of money over domestic machines. The lower cost allows you to enter the market. You can always upgrade or keep an eye out for a used domestic machine.

TMW - It seems like you got a good handle on your new Co2 Laser Machine. Have you thought about adding a camera to the underside of the Lid to use in Lightburn? I have found it to be very useful. Also, just curious. if you have experienced any issues with the utilization of purified drinking water vs. Distilled Water. It seems that many Laser Machine Chillers utilize Distilled Water in the Chillers. I know that most standard-model chillers can handle ordinary distilled or tap water as a coolant. Additives include algaecide to prevent algae growth, and/or ethylene glycol to prevent corrosion and lower the freezing point of the fluid. Some lasers require deionized (DI) water, which can be very aggressive toward many materials. Anyways, thank you for taking the time to share the unboxing and operation of your new laser! Thanks! I have thought about adding a camera but it seemed like a lot of work, I've found a way to use absolute positioning for cutting with jigs so I think I can make do without one. As far as drinking water vs. distilled water, I've always used distilled water, I got them at walmart and so far I haven't any problems.

The only recommendation I have is to rotate your air pump to the bottom so the tubing doesn't kink and block the flow at the connection. I'm waiting on my 60w from Monport that should be here Monday.

@@themissionwoodshop I'm started with a 10 watt diode laser. Then I got a K40 from Monport and now I'm up grading to their 60 watt laser with auto focus, air assist and a 28x20 inch bed. I ordered it on June 16, 2024. I got the laser, the rotary and lightburn with free shipping for $2300.00. Good luck with your projects.

@@TonyIsmail I was originally looking at the 6040, but decided on the 9060 because it's a little more cost effective. Make sure you upgrade the stepper motor, I believe it'll result in better quality in faster speeds.
