Is an Iridium 9575 Satellite Phone Worth It Camping Greenland? (4k UHD)

My adventures are not this extreme but I always carry two communications devices, i used to have a THURAYA, I then went over to INMARSAT handheld, but I ALWAYS take my SPOT Tracking device as well as my phone. Garmin Inreach is slightly more expensive than the SPOT but I like the SPOT now I am used to the online setup its all sorted, YOU MUST set it up, YOU CAN NOT just guy it and go. the INMARSAT unit is bigger than the THURAYA or the IRIDIUM but so super super super useful and safety for any rescue team too as they know where you are. what I like most about the tracker is the satellites are in low earth orbit and they will fly overhead directly so you will get a message through, if your on the wrong side of a massive mountain the higher satellites can be obscured and your possibly in the wrong place to hit them. the LEO are moving and maybe as a maximum every 20 minutes the satellites will be directly overhead.

There is a menu setting to change the language on the phone. That might be a little challenging to find in the Chinese section.

Very goodcoverage of how to use the iridium phone. G inreach does not provide same functuonality, but could inreach be used? Or do you see inreach as a backup, to the iridium phone?

I have used the InReach Mini on several arctic treks. The Mini is lightweight, rugged, and has excellent battery life if you're careful with the settings. It uses the same satellites as the Iridium phone. You can communicate with anyone who can receive SMS text messages or emails. And it's much, MUCH cheaper to buy and use than the phone. The only thing it can't do is voice calls, if you really must have that.

Inreach can be used as long as there's no voice requirement. Always carry backup.
