I didn't even watch the full video yet and will absolutely agree that Aqib Talib is a HOF in my book, he's always one of those under the radar corners people don't pay enough attention to. He has everything you want in a corner, strength, instincts, football IQ, and pretty good speed and acceleration. He went from a nothing team with Tampa Bay, but also learned from the future HOFer in Ronde Barber and got very valuable experience. Then got even more experience when he went to the Patriots and learned the Patriot Way. All this experience and eventually led to him going to the Broncos and becoming a Super Bowl champ with Von Miller and Peyton Manning on the same team. He's carried these experiences with him to the Rams and now he's going to another Super Bowl, facing his former Patriots, Talib is going to be a force to be reckoned with in this game, and if anybody can make a play against Brady in the most important game of the season, it's this future HOFer who can and can make a difference for the Rams just like he has been doing for his career: making plays, which makes differences.
@War_Maker6 жыл бұрын
As someone who played corner for 10 years and has admired the position for so long, Talib in my eyes is HOF worthy. One of the greats from this generation of players with Chris Harris Jr., Revis, Champ Bailey, and Patrick Peterson.
@kaymanfani71546 жыл бұрын
Revis? Who did you play for

How can you say Champ Bailey is from the same generation with Harris Jr or Peterson? He began his career 12 years before them. You're mixing up players from different generations. Also odd you didn't even mention Richard Sherman, he's better than most of them. 32 interceptions and 103 defended passes speak for itself.

Talib is an incredibly intelligent player who understands systems, both how teams try to beat him and his own defense. That is why I love him. He plays the game the right way, intelligent as well as physical. He takes chances but seldom gets beat deep, the best of both worlds in that regard. Hard for a multi team player to get into the Hall of Fame though, especially since he was only really good with two teams and only has one ring. If he can win 2 rings with the Rams he might have a shot of getting in, but other than that I doubt it. The amazing thing about it is the guy he was drafted to replace, Ronde Barber, was a perfect match, even the look.

Don't forget that to play at this position, cornerback, is very very difficult. It's the hardest position to play in the game after quarterback. And to be able to play it very well with a rule like pass interference, which greatly benefits the wide receivers, who usually also have the advantage of surprise, makes it even more difficult. Not to mention that sometimes the refs are literally calling basketball like contacts in favor of the offense.
@polar200406 жыл бұрын
Interesting breakdown, however in the play against the Eagles I see it a tiny bit differently and correct me if I'm wrong. The outside receiver released vertical and then starts to stem inside towards the seam on a skinny post, making it a fork concept by the terminology that I know, and it's a concept that works decidedly better against cover 2 than cover 3. It works by creating a "fork" in the routes that the deep safety has to pick a side on. If the receiver had stemmed outside and ran a fade it would've pulled Talib completely out of the play or risk giving up a touchdown in the back corner. Now I'm not suggesting that Aqib didn't read the play properly, because he did. But he was able to stay in the right spot due to no threat of being beaten to the back corner. That's just the way I read it though.
@gregburrell62446 жыл бұрын
Brett said he passed the WR to the FS before breaking on Ertz route. Your right he might have had to stay with the WR if he was on a fade.
@polar200406 жыл бұрын

I know that your attention gets turned to the draft after the Super Bowl is over and you'll probably be looking at the quarterbacks at some point. It's considered a pretty bad class for them, but I find it to be an interesting one. Two first rounders are obvious, Dwayne Haskins and Kyler Murray. Dwayne Haskins is just a good all around guy who you can feel comfortable picking. Nothing really stands out as special but everything seems good. Kyler Murray meanwhile is the Lamar Jackson you WANT to have. He clearly wants to throw and actually does a good job of it, but those wheels are there if he needs them. Of course there are issues to counter his upsides, he's not used to pressure and bolts out instead of moving around, there's also the concern that his target always seems to be wide open. He's worth a gamble, but he's definitely a gamble. My favorite though is a guy who's not getting any love at all. Jordan Ta'amu of Ole Miss. The guys is accurate everywhere, but his deep ball is the best I have ever seen at any level. A lot of credit is being given to his receivers but I didn't see any greatness while watching their film, which happened before I saw Ta'amu. It's the qb making them look good. There are questions about his pocket presence because his O-Line either plays well enough for him to not worry about it or so poorly that there's nothing he could possibly do. Maybe I'm seeing things wrong, but from where I'm standing Ta'amu is the best qb in the draft. Oh, my opinion on Drew Lock and Will Grier? Terrible.

Something I'll add to the INT against the Eagles -- Ertz telegraphs the route. He doesn't make a sharp cut, he makes a huge sweeping run around the Cape of Good Hope to make that route.
