Ai can only mimic already known datas. Its the actual photographer that is the creative essence.

This! And also, photography is about capturing reality through a human's perspective. AI is all fiction.

One thing us street photographers cant compete with his the AI ability to produce images from another era. The picture of 1990s new york is very good. I suspect the true power will come when you can input your own photo and then to tell the ai to replace the cars and fashion of another era or place but to leave the other elements intact. The ai then becomes an assistant tool to the human instead of a replacement.

Yeah, but in that case we could ask ourselves if it is still photography? The process involves a camera, but it turns more into a photomontage. Similar to rendering a car and replacing the sky for a HDR photo. It could be a fine line between what we consider a photo and what is digital art. Though I cannot deny that more and more AI will become part of anything we do.

I do used AI sometimes to removed unnecessary items in the Photos, but I agree with you, too much is not good. it is like artificial Photography

Oh! of course! I just realised that in some sense, retouching and healing are AI based tools. But I agree, photography is about capturing reality, Midjourney is just fiction.
