I used to own one of these companies and realized after holding it for a long time that profits is dependent on the brand cycle. Operators have a large distribution network in general. They raise a bunch of money and/or take on high leverage in order to buy a brand on the upswing. They pump the inventory into their distribution network until the market is saturated. Once the brand fades, inventory balloons, margins dissipates, cash flow evaporates and the stock price falls as most brands have no salvage value, no moats, with except some of course. After that the operators restructure to kill the brand and start again.. that’s the brand cycle. There is nothing wrong with owning such businesses. As long as I understand the risk and at what point in the brand cycle I am buying

On the other hand, if inflation is here to stay, these stocks could be a good protection comparing to government debt... Not an easy situation. Never there was a crisis, when USD was losing its value so fast, like now. Euro could be a safer haven, but also high risk. Energy maybe?

No, keep LVMH and Hermes in your portfolio and add more shares if you can get them at a lower price. LVMH is an investment for eternity. - One of the best european companies. Greetings from Germany.

@@max77vvxf5yvh The € will get stronger this year because the European Central Bank has to increase interests furthermore - inflation in europe is still very high......but this should not be the only argument to keep LVMH - the main reason is, that LVMH is an fanatastic company with a lot of "value-brands" - wealthy people will always be able to buy these products, independing of the "world-economic" situation. For diversivication actually think about buying these stocks: Danaher, United Health, Accenture, Allianz (longterm high dividend), Deutsche Post (high dividend).

Hi Sven. Can you please revisit Stellantis. Having in mind the merger that was made and that Peugeot is a part of the company. It has cash that is almost equal to it's book value and very low debt. It is just to pay around 8% dividend. Plenty of free cash flow. Being a cyclical company and car sales bottoming why is this not the bottom we should be buying. When things get better people will buy more cars - people can not buy less cars than at the current moment. Comparing Renault we can say that the cycle is to start getting up. Why is Stellantis, having in mind that it is a 3rd car saling company not a value play at this prices? Keep up the great work 👍

Buy ASOS. The reason it's cheap is not just because of ASOS's business. Its also because of UK Macro. UK has gone through 3 large negative catalyst over the last 3 years. 1st. Brexit 2nd. Covid and 3rd. Russia-Ukraine war. All 3 catalysts over time people will get use to and sentiment will neutralize. Most UK stocks are trading at bargain prices. In 2/3 years, you should find ASOS at 1200-1500. They don't have growth. But many people even in india buy from ASOS. I personally don't like their product. And there is lack of innovation despite potential. They could do more with their website. Still, their current stock price is because of UK macro not "just" the underlying business alone. Though their growth is slowing down. Btw, I ignore charlie munger in this case. I doubt charlie munger buys stuff online.

gross margin, free cash flow and profits returning. Debt decreased due to dilution and refinancing, price to sales at 0.1x and people will always buy clothes. It's not great but at this point it's likely to not go bankrupt and the turnaround is likely going to happen. I placed current fair value around 350-450 mil with a decent safety margin. I might be wrong but i believe now is a good time to buy in and hold for a few years.
