pointing on differences between BDO life skills and crafting systems in other games, like gathering and crafting jobs in FFXIV is also a fine way to see how rich MMO genre is today and how much variety it offers there is much depth in BDO life skills and how it is connected to actual game world, making it interesting to dive in - and I do enjoy this, but I also very much enjoy how FFXIV approaches crafting and progression just started BDO this year and it's really unique experience even if you're casual noobling like me

I recently decided to give BDO a shot specifically because I like the idea of grind spots and a fun combat system. I had been having fun playing FF14, but these days I struggle to find anything interesting to do when my FC/static isn't around for raids. And as we get further into the expansion, more people seem to be falling off, and just running experts and alliance raids was getting old. BDO has been a fun change of pace during downtime, and I've been having a good time just trying to find a class I really like (Dark Knight and Lahn are both decent, but neither really feels like it's the right fit so far)

Man love your videos, I play on console looking at getting a PC 100 percent i would start this game in 2023 when i make the move, I pray they will allow account transfer in coming future. Season plus knowing how to play wouldn't take to long to reach 280 plus

I disagree with you that fewer, better-balanced classes is better. Obviously that's a matter of taste, but from my experience with PVP in MMORPGs, the amount of skills and stats makes it so insanely hard to balance that a few more or fewer classes seemed to make less of a difference than the way balancing was approached. Plus I think the more choice you have, the more there is to explore, experience and the more chance to find your unique place in the game.

I am DLing BDO right now. no idea what I wanna play. I am learning towards Beserker but I also really am into a tank type class. on the oposite side im a "Unlimitaed powwaaaaaaaaa" lightning guy :P haha this game looks amazing

Pick my class? I'm a weeb, I'm Australian, only play female classes and I prefer lifeskilling. 😁 On a serious note (that is all true though), if I were thinking of picking up BDO, now's a good time. Even compared to a year ago, which is when I started, it's far less hassle to get grounded and start progressing. Things could always be better like with any game, but least PA's being pro-active about it.

I can tell me experience as a new player rn, I can't tell about a year ago, but nothing much has changed I think. The game seems to be in a good spot, but in terms of getting grounded and progressing I think not much has changed, it's a toon of stuff for a new player to understand, if you don't watch a lot of guides, you will find yourself lost

@@leo-fg9du Yeah, guides are still definitely a necessity, I think there's far to many systems in BDO for that to never be needed, rarely do I not find one needed for something specific, so at least that's a plus. As for getting grounded and progressing, my comment's more in regards to gear.

*BDO is a gem.* But I think y our attitude towards anime will make the biggest difference in your new player experience. If you don't like anime stuff, like myself, it can be a hard nut to crack. To those like me I saw roll a Drakania or Hashashin, maybe a Corsair or a Witch, and channel your inner TW:Warhammer desires.

Just tried bdo, probably the worst new player experience I've ever had. The second you log in the game throws you 1000 notifications with 100 different items that makes no sense. Instantly full backpack with stuff that makes no sense. The equipment you get is also not descriptive of what it is. Is it a sword? Dagger? Greatsword? All mobs are dumb stand stil and get 1 shot from random button presses. The controls are junky and not fluid at all, just came from GW2 action combat that felt 100 times more smooth. The jumping is awkward af. The menues have 1000 buttons. The attack icons all look the same, impossible to tell the difference of what is what. There is no clear endgame. What is the grid for? Just the sake of grinding? Do I have to spend 200+ hours grinding just to get a little bit of fun in pvp? There isn't a single video out there explaining what the endgame is. All you find is "just grind"

Is it grindy? Yes and no. Yes if you want to make progress. No if you want progress and spend money.

im mad cause i was having fun with my valk, until i realized that grind spot A is the same as grind B just different place in the map and tankier braindead mobs, doesnt vary to make it engaging, and lifeskill, im mad that i got dead bored about it, i liked cooking until i realized, is just dropping industrial quantities of something and make the game do the rest, so not appealing, i liked fishing until i realized meh, is leaving the charater there and do something else, the minigame gets lame, in resume im mad that i fell in love with my characters and that the game is not for me, ah and the the fcking tumor that enchating mechanic is, i compared myself to others thanks to the amazing linking system in the chat where you can brag your infinte potion and pen blackstar gear, oh and that the Merv colour palette is temporary, seriously?

I left a like on this video because I think it's quite well explained, BUT I'm gonna have to disagree with the Easy to Learn part This game is only easy to learn if you knew beforehand "what is there to learn" I have some experience in MMO, but I started BDO with the mindset of someone with no prior knowledge to MMO at all Coming from that perspective, this game just has way too many things that will 100% overwhelm a new player (not to mention the horrendous default UI and notification) I actually got into a somewhat heated argument with veterans on my server's chat about whether BDO is easy to learn or not. Many veterans (including you I presume) think they're the most qualified to give opinion in whether BDO is easy to learn or not to newbie, but the reality is, they're arguably the least qualified to do so. There are just so many things that veterans might just see as common knowledge or common game sense, but that is not always be the case.

Been playing for just over a year, BDO was my first true MMO. Guides from content creators were (still are) a massive help, if it wasn't for them it's highly likely I would have quit. I'd argue since starting, it's got better with some mechanic being streamlined, therefore making it easier, but it's still not necessarily "easy", PA's lucky it has many good content creators to help with that.

I disagree, easy to learn doesnt mean intuitive that you'll just figure out how it all works instantly on your own. Easy to learn means lacking overbearing complexity. There are no deep calculations you have to learn, there are no puzzles that take out of the box critical thinking skills. The game is complex in that there is a ton to do, many different systems, but each system is relatively simple. Ive played since the end of January and have 4 characters level 61, one of them is almost 63. Combat is relatively straightforward between each class, the combos use only a handful of keys and not the whole keyboard. Each lifeskill is a simple system, just with lots of uses. You wont memorize all of it, and you shouldn't, external websites and even the in game reference has all of the recipes so nothing is out of reach, even for a complete beginner. But it is an MMO, it's supposed to take time,lots and lots of time, to advance to end game aspects in each category.

Yes, it’s a grind. I started Console and then switched to PC. To me the biggest drawback is the RNG system. Until they address it honestly, it will stay a niche game.

My advice stay away from this game P2W and full a ingame greifer that will PK ... this game is pure @$@?$
