I've enjoyed my 40 year general dentist practice and I have the stent in my heart to prove it. Owning your own business and practice location sounds great but the stresses are many. You are NEVER not at work. Payroll due? Hiring and firing fall on you. Parking lot needs to be re-paved? You're up ,champ. And so on....Dentistry worked for me. You can't beat our hourly rate. You're cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Neither of my children are dentists and I'm happy for them. There are easier ways to earn what I've earned.

Hi! I appreciate how insightful your comment is. Do you mind sharing and expanding a little bit about these other ways to earn?

It's only 250k-300k in Ohio for in-state students. I also think the debt is by design. If people are quickly getting rich, they quit and live off of interest/investment income and we don't have dentists actually working.

Hi Chris! I couldn’t find you on another platform, but I wanted to ask if you still produce music, (it was extremely good stuff you were doing)!

At 5:40 you mentioned that you can find a lot of these positives in other jobs. Can you please give me a concrete list of some of these? Thanks!!

How far out from school are you now/ how many years have you been an owner? How did you acquire the practice?
@marshallddsАй бұрын
About 6 years out now, bought a practice 14 months out of school that I found through a practice broker.
@awsalhaj736Ай бұрын
@@marshallddshow did you acquire the funds to buy the practice. Because 1 year working as a dentist definitely doesn’t get you to that point
@marshallddsАй бұрын
@@awsalhaj736 Practice loan. Assuming you are in the US, it is very easy to get a practice loan if you are buying a practice that has a proven track record. Generally the banks just want you to have 50-75k saved up in an emergency fund, and they usually don't require you to use that money as a downpayment.

god i hope so, I'm in my undergrad right now and the volunteer work I do with Smart Smiles and Agape Clinic is truly heartwarming. It's difficult but I love it so much. I hope that money will never hold me back from community service

Isn't it faster and easier to just start a medical practice without being a dentist?
