@@PLo312 I went from a Gixxer thou, to a Triumph Tiger, to a FatBoy, to a KTM 1290S, finally to a '23 model GS Rallye and it was the best decision I've made. The previous model is a fantastic bike. The best review I've seen so far. Very even-handed. I bought my first GS (R1150GS) in 2001 and have ridden it a lot both touring and off-road. The newer 1200 and 1250 versions did not inspire me due to their bulk and weight. As I have aged, my ability to handle a heavy bike has diminished. I rented a 2021 1250 in Spain and rode from Barcelona to San Sebastian up the Costa Brava and through the Pyrenees Mountains and back. I enjoyed the new features, including the riding modes, better shifting, and power increase over my old oil head. However, I found myself wishing the bike was a bit lighter and more nimble. The new 1300 seems to meet my needs in the redesign to be smaller, lighter and more powerful. It may finally be time to upgrade!
@dougiequick111 ай бұрын
Is the 1300 REALLY any lighter? Spec wise yes but they apparently removed items that if added back would leave the weight the same? Meaning you could strip those same items OFF the 1250 and have the same weight? Seat height is the same? what is "smaller" now? Yes all new design but WHERE is it more compact other than slimmer at tank/knees? Guess I have to ride one ....which right now is impossible
@Fatcatztravel12509 ай бұрын
Marginally lighter,until u add full luggage, center stand crash bars, etc.

Agreed with other comments (I just picked up my GS13 Trophy yesterday). Without the “pro” suspension, but with case/head protection, skid plate, and center stand even BMW state mine weighs 550lbs wet. It is noticeably less bulky in the front though. Check it out, but watch the options if weight is a concern. And make sure you get those forged wheels 🤘🏼

A big change from BMW towards the market of people who always wanted a GS but feel intimidated by its size. It’s a bold move with the new design and a bit like marmite but whether you like it or not, so far from all the reviews I’ve seen from various motorcycle journalists it looks much better, easier to ride and manoeuvre and it will sell! Thanks Neeves and MCN team for the review and video, well done you all! 👍👍

I admire BMW's commitment to R&D. The Japanese manufacturers used to be the gold-standard for this but I just don't see it in them anymore. Lots of the tech is way above my head: I use hardly any of it on my R1250RT despite it being fully-loaded, but I like the fact that the company wants to be at the cutting edge. Nice, clear explanation. Thanks.

Spoken like a BMW owner. 😂 I’ve owned a GS, put 55k miles on one…..and it’s a fine bike until the issues of its over-engineering rear their heads. At that point, Bring My Wallet becomes the reality. Say all you want about the Japanese brands but almost all of them don’t change an oil filter design every couple years for no reason, have major mechanical sensitivity that need “tuning”, or “adjusting” or parts that cost the moon for simple fixes or normal maintenance. 🤷🏻♂️✌️

Killed off because their manufacturers couldn't be bothered to design their way around the enviro regs - PATHETIC! Where is the Trophy? Good question. Maybe I can overlook the funny starfish if the illumination/cornering feature is improved, but somehow I doubt it, just too small a light fixture to have improved I'm guessing. Well, I just did the test ride today. Power was good, but shifting at least on the test bike was an issue, causing the bike to jump occasionally with shifting. The test bike, with all extras, felt really heavy! Definately heavier than expected. The question is, is this the right approach and for who? This bike in my opinion, has less presence, less comfort, less room for pillion and smaller paniers. The suspension in sport mode was jumpy on B roads, in road mode was better. I really missed the plush ride and the feeling of the 1250 gs though, the 1300gs feels more like a sport tourer, not like an adventure bike.

As a fan of 19 inch front wheels on my heavy ADVENTURE bikes (rather than the 21 inch I have on all my dedicated DIRT bikes such as enduro/trail/trials bikes) this is the part I don't get, if Triumph (example 2024 900 GT Pro) or any other manufacturer including Ducati and Moto Guzzi, fit a 19 inch wheel on their big adventure bikes, then apparently their products are ENTIRELY a "road focused" ONLY adventure bike and by extension, considered utterly USELESS off -road. However, If BMW fit a 19 inch front wheel on their new 1300 GS, then suddenly " The Best Adventure Bike" in the entire world? Explanations please?

It's just as oversized as it's ever been in my opinion. People underestimate the F750/850 GS. More maneuverable and cheaper to buy, own and use.

As always great video! It is a beautiful bike for sure. Since the first time I saw the headlight I started noticing the Porches have a star cluster as well. Best!

I do not want to take anything away from the release of BMWs iconic GS, but I can't wait for the KTM 1390 Super Adventure. KTM has a lot to live up too to beat the Beamer. I'm a KTM guy, so I'm anxious to see what they come up with. What an awesome upgrade year, it's an exciting year for the Adventure bike segment.

Don't know about that, had over 40 motorcycles, like 10 Honda's, and 15 BMW's, some beta's, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki, always go back to the Beemers :) like them. I hear the NC 750 is a wicked good bike if you are a old fart :) Lol greatings from a old Belgian fart. @@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne

I think the new Stelvio might give the GS a run for it's money.If the Stelvio turns out to be as good as my V85 TT,take my money.

I agree with Nieves about the plethora of great add on features available from the factory. But the quick shifter is only available in a bundle, that costs $3985 USd. It's together with other features I don't want to pay for. Automobile manufacturers have used this marketing trick for a long time. And now it's creeping into motorcycles. (Example: KTM "demo mode"). I, like most riders, don't have endless funds to keep pumping the price up and up and up. Please BMW, don't bundle features together unnecessarily that require a bigger price tag! Because it's pissing me off.

I curious how many 1250 gs owners are planing on buying one? And how many find the appearance too disgusting and will stay with their 1250/1200

Judging by the number of 1250's coming onto the market ("GS 1250 for sale, very low miles, never seen rain/desert/off-road. Only ever ridden to local bike meet/Tesco") plenty have taken the plunge..
