This is a reaction video after I listened to the podcast with the Roadman cycling podcast. The "Roadmap" interviewed Brompton's CEO Will Butler-Adam. At the podcast, some good 45 minutes that I had spent. Will talked about the greener vision for the Brompton company; if the Brompton is in the exclusive club; the way Brompton see how we use the bike. He had also leaked (maybe) Brompton will make a tubeless-ready wheel as the next big update. The full podcast is highly recommended at the link here:
• Brompton's CEO Urges: ...
Love you all! Happy Brompton-ing!
See you on the next one.

What tyre pressure are you guys running on? Do you think Brompton is in the exclusive club?

Looking at Singapore, with the popularity of the clones, I think not. The only problem is that it's hard to do the commute/cycle (residents in Punggol as an example) mix here during peak hours.

95psi to be precise on kojak. But 90 on one. I'm not going to say yes that B is in that particular club, but I think at some point (the limited edition brompton) make itself exclusive.

@@goondu86 shouldn't it be more exclusive then if there are a whole lot of the clone versions? I remember riding to work during the peak hours at the bus lane, it was either the bus or me. I am literally the fastest-moving thing on the road during the peak hours.

I have a Brompton and the frame actually split during a 215k single day tour I did from Berlin to Magdeburg. I wrote them a message with pictures, I also sent the piece of the frame that split (it was the larger one where the post and the pedals are attached). They sent me the piece of the frame for free. I thought that was very solid.

Split?! I hope you are alright. Anyway, what do you mean by the splitting? as in the joins broke off or the tubing went left and right.
@ChrisShawarma
@ChrisShawarma Жыл бұрын
Maybe split isn't the right description, the frame cracked right along the main tube of the frame where the Brompton logo is. It was a long crack too and I had to finish the rest 30k on it so it got bigger and led to the crack splitting wider apart. The people at Brompton also replied saying that they had never heard of something like that happening, I was amazed myself since the frame seemed to be extremely solid. I fixed it after they sent me the replacement and it's as good as new and haven't had an issue with it since.

65psi in my Schwalbe Marathons. As to whether Bromptons are exclusive? I’d say no. I heard of an American couple that bought their 6-yr old daughter a new M3L which cost $1200 USD, when their friends learnt of this they were aghast as the expense saying they’d only spend $200 USD on a child’s bike. Yet the couple said after a year the daughter out-grow the bike, so they be forced to needlessly spend another $200 USD. So using that ‘formula’ their friends would be spending $1200 USD in 6 years to buy 6 bikes, whereas after the initial spend on the Brompton unless anything wore out the only thing to change would be raising the seatpost to accommodate the child’s growth each year. So, IMO it’s only the narrowness of someone’s mind that limits them from buying a Brompton. I bought my H6R new in 2012 and I’ve just passed 10,000 miles in 11 years recreational riding on and offroad: gravel riding ain’t anything new, a lot of UK off-road is hardpacked gravel, perfect Brompton territory.

Great to hear about your experience. I am primarily on the Kojak and running them on the tarmac surface. When I am riding on smoother surface like in the places of Brisbane and Singapore, it does me wonder with tyre pressure from 85 and upwards. However, once I got to HK with the road surface being a little bit not as nice, a touch lower on the tyre pressure would be preferred. The Schwalbe Marathons generally have a stronger side wall support as well, I say they do hold up better than the Kojak do at the lower tyre pressure. My kids started riding on the Brompton when they had enough height at around age 10. The adjusted Seatpost certainly helped when they were smaller. I used to setup a shorter old M stem with the flat S handler bar for their easy riding also.

My tyres are pumped to 80 psi at the front, and 90 psi at the back. Thanks for asking. However I don't usually check them for about two or three weeks, by which time they have dropped to about 45 psi, and so I pump them up again.

Heard on the grapevine that Brompton is going to build a aluminium version, it’s least that way you could get a light version without it being so expensive as with the T- Line .

Thanks for spending time on the video. It does sound like the alloy version of the bike is coming. However, I am seriously not a big fan of very thick tubing on the Brompton, at least not just yet.
@kavanobrien6547
@kavanobrien6547 Жыл бұрын
@@Petrellionwheels what makes you think it has to be thick tubes , if you look at road bikes the tubes are no thicker than the steal ones, if Brompton are brave enough to do it it will open up a market which nobody has looked at before, The T-line is in the right direction but the price is out of reach , so having the lightness with aluminium without the cost of the T-line it’s a no brainier.

I use Marathon + with tubes + Stans sealant as Commuting on a Brompton on a wet winters day in the UK and getting a rear puncture on the way to catch a train at 18:30 is the most soul destroying moment… without doubt it makes the ride sluggish …. So a robust tubeless solution would be a great step forward

PLEASE add ANT+ to the electric model, so our cycling computers (such as Garmin Explore 2) can incorporate things like remaining battery charge info into its course calculations. If you still refuse to do that, AT LEAST allow your bluetooth to connect to not just your phone app, but also to cycling computers which have bluetooth. Finally, would you PLEASE INCREASE SAFETY by adding a handlebar mounted PAS level changer...you could easily add a BT device, since the battery system already has bluetooth. A yr ago you gave an email response saying you were not planning those features and that if I didn't like that then "perhaps Brompton isn't the right bike for you" ... and that included the safety-centric handlebar mounted PAS level changer. Hopefully the Brompton CEO will change attitude to embrace safety in the near future. Reaching over/under handlebars to change PAS level is UNSAFE when in traffic and impractical when on hills.

Thanks for watching the video bro. The riding condition in Singapore is unbeatable man. Higher tyre pressure works like a juicy there. I tried some suspension Seatpost before as well. They do add an extra comfort to the ride. I had them removed purely to keep the clean bike look.

70PSI on the front and 75 at the back, but I’m on the very light side of weight with 55kg only. I personally don’t get the hype about this tubeless thing at all. Most of the experience I see in real world conditions are not overwhelming and the hassle with the liquid in case it fails is something I don’t want to deal with. Greetings from Europe
