You can fight Italians through out Sniper Elite 3 and 4, also I like how in desert fox you see a Stuart take out a Tiger tank. But then again the Stuart also had a Mario star power up on it so makes since.

Could have been my first CoD I can't exactly remember. I remember Finest Hour well too. But this one was sooooo good and having some of the Band of Brothers guys to do voiceovers just added to it. You got to feel like you were part of Easy Company even though the story was Big Red One.

Agree with so much. And also i would say gameplay aged really nice, it's just fun to play and it does feel like CoD. And i just love the visual style here, they picked what to focus on very well so in the end we got a game with suprisingly nice visuals for ps2 shooter.

I didn’t know there were two call of duty 2’s at the time, I remember playing call of duty 2 on the Xbox 360 but not this one, and this the only game I learned about the big red one, fight through Africa all the way to Europe.

Was my first cod on the Xbox, I couldn't play counter strike but I could play this, its such a good game I bought it again, favorite mission was Operation Husky, the bomber mission was hella good too, I saw a review where the person said loosing the squad mates doesn't work bc the player is silent, then they expected to "get a lollipop after the last mission" like wut?

I think I know what mission you're referring to lol. Husky is my 2nd favorite mission. Fantastic level design. My favorite is Piano Lupo. Counterattack is there too. The Last Train I liked because of its winter setting. Quite atmospheric.

Regarding enemies medal of honor has also vichy (MoH Underground all levels in Paris), Heroes on PSP has italians also, if i'm correct in Add-ons to MoH Allied Assault there are some different nationalities. And in first Sniper Elite you have russians (espionage part of the war, no idea how far from the reality). There has to be more, and i'm sure that at least in some games you shoot italians.

On consoles yes, but if you haven't played Medal of Honor Pacific Assault you haven't played a high class WW2 game. Also, in the Mons mission, the date is wrong as it's Sept.2nd, whereas in the opening mission it's Sept.7th. Because Brooklyn states that 'Sarge' (us the player being the one in question) had been injured by a German Mortar round, which is what happens to us in the opening mission. Personally, I think it's a mistake from the devs because both dates are very similar, so someone while making the intros had simply forgot which date goes where and had by accident placed Sept. 2nd ahead of Sept. 7th, thus making the story a bit crooked.

I didn't like Pacific assault. I didn't care about my character or what I was doing, a problem that plagued later Medal of Honor games.

Well the opening mission takes place after the Mons mission. The first level is on Sptember 7th (or so my screen says), and mons mission is September 2nd. So no, the timeline works fine. Between the 2nd and the 7th, you were promoted to Sgt, along with Kelly and Bloomfield. It works.

My first WWII game. Definitely nailed the "boots on the ground" feeling better than any other Call of Duty. I know people talk up WAW as being the "most accurate/authentic/immersive", but that game never made me feel like part of a normal squad of soldiers progressing through campaign after campaign. COD "WWII" tried, but just ended up making something that felt more like a Hollywood movie with the overly-cinematic moments and the artificial character drama. And BR1's main theme is pure gold. It perfectly captures the "United States in WWII" aesthetic. It's amazing how generic and forgettable newer COD soundtracks are compared to the legacy titles. Lost art I guess.

I have so many great memories of the multiplayer of big red one. Buchholz and Town Square are such iconic maps for me. I remember wanting an xbox 360 so bad for the regular COD2, but when I finally got it I didn't even like it as much. I remember my grandfather (Iwo Jima vet) watching me play a little of the campaign. I was super young at the time, I knew he was in WWII but was way too young to REALLY understand what that meant... he probably thought I was insane for finding enjoyment from it lol. He died shortly after but from what my mom and aunt say, he NEVER talked about it.

Also like how its shown that Allen was replacing Hawkins to keep their numbers up. We see Allen prove Brooklyn right by being cocky and getting himself killed. No one ever replaces Allen, and I wonder if it's because Brooklyn requested to keep replacement out or that the squad doesn't care to hang out with anyone else after Schmitty, who has proven himself a bit

100% SPOT ON. I usually have so much niche things to say but you've checked them all, the evolution of soldiers and uniforms, the factions and guns, vehicles, soundtrack and everything else in between, just absolutely spot on, this game was truly the first COD to give characters a importance, something we would see later with COD3, COD4 and the whole franchise of memorable characters we got today. Obviously some passion and nostalgia exist to me since it was my first game/COD ever, but I'm assure that even without those glasses this game holds up extremely well and deserves the regard, can't even fanthom to explain how much this game sparked my interest in history and taught me english even through playing it just so many times.

I love big red one, i have to say, the way they showed the history of the first infantry division is x100000000 times better than what they did on cod ww2, i dont remember any other cod apart from the expansion of cod 1 that has missions on sicily, and with cod 2, the only cods that have missions on the african theatre, the game deserves a remake, just as all the other cod games on ps2, those being this one, big red one, call of duty finest hour (the first one of the ps2), cod 3 (for me the best) and Call of duty world at war final fronts, wich, in my opinion, has a better pacific theatre than the original cod waw becouse it has more battles (guadalcanal, tarawa (on betio), saipan and share the battle of okinawa, the bad side of this is that the battles are not developed in detail as they did in the original world at war, for example the battle of peleliu you spend half of the marine campaing on were you can see how the characters in the platoon develop a little bit, wich never happen on the ps2 version and the battles have just a few missions. If i remember correctly is 1 mission on bootcamp, 1 in guadalcanal (tokyo express), 3 on betio (landing, destroying the gun batteries and taking the japanese commandpost), 2 on saipan (beach head defending against the biggest banzai charge of the war and taking mount tapochau) and 2 on okinawa (taking over japanese rocket artillery and bunkers on a hill overlooking the shuri castle, and finally, taking the castle and japanese counterattack on the court yard). Theres no eastern front on the ps2 version, being replaced with the battle of the bulge (wich is one of the best portraits of the battle ive ever saw becouse it shows part of the battle with british missions), the rhin river crossing with the brits and finally the capture of Braunau am inn (hitler's hometown in austria) and the destruction of a V2 launch site on the town. I just want to play those games with out emulating and with better graphics... just imagine, sadly, activision has forgotten everything before cod 4 beside some ports to the 7th generation of consoles like call of duty classic (cod 1)

Never mentioned Schmitty, who replaced Vic. He never grows close to you, and Im thinking that was on purpose. He's just the "new guy," replacing a beloved memeber and never fill his shoes. Though we see him grow. Wonder why hes not in "We've been through Worse"?

I always thought Schmity replaced Alan. While your character replaced Hawkins. Hence why Delany now talks to you directly like he did with Hawkins in prior missions.

He knows his place as the replacement, taking quips from Brooklyn and being corrected by Hawkins while they were on the landing craft. He proves himself by fixing the Flak 88 they use to destroy some bunkers. He isn't present during "We've been through Worse," though he shows up in every other mission and was in "An Easy Detail." Roland took the billet left empty by Sgt. Hawkins. Though they were still short a mam and that was filled by Allen until he died. They have to keep numbers to keep the squad "combat effective", but I can see someone like Brooklyn requesting Delaney to stop giving them replacements and let them be. Schmitty was accepted because he had proven himself. He was a third wheel because of you only knew him for half a year while everyone else had been Day 1s for almost two years by then.

COD WW2 tried and failed to copy the squad chemistry of BRO. The characters weren't that likable and the story only centered on a two charchters with Zussman still feeling like a cliche side story. He didnt live up to Brooklyn in the slightest
