Hoping for a boost through the drone is just lunacy when it's so rare and even rarer the tighter your lines there are. 1:00 cinema timing just watches 1s more cinema than instacut. Also you can theoretically get 1-2 boosts from the timed mines by throwing one as you enter the spiral, as found by BlueKhakis. And Berg developed that spiral mine throw, I had very little to do with it.

@@GamerFolklore While I do appreciate modern knowledge, I kind of miss the era when video-games were like black boxes. Mysteries and rumors added so much replayability to games like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, Mario 64 and Zelda. Even if we were all just chasing shadows, it was so much fun. I remember the morning I found the secret gun on Train, in the crate near the end of like the first or second car. If an RCP90 or DD44 could pop up on Train, then practically anything was possible! Maybe Xenia really was on Frigate! We've gained so much, in terms of video-game knowledge over the years, but sometimes I feel like we overlook that which we've lost.

@@Wheatsolo I can't argue that. My teammates in Smite typically act as though they've just discovered the magical powers of the 'attack' button. But that's a different story altogether. Sitting in your bedroom late at night, going between the chat room and your copy of Zelda as you and a few friends are searching for the Triforce... that's not something that's likely to happen, ever again.

I was watching Illu stream caverns one day and he had one run where he shot the drone in the tunnel and got a boost off that. Not sure if that's a viable, consistent strategy but it looked like it would save a bit of time.

My original 1:02 is boostless with no lookdown at all and some bad strafing (I missed the first lure and also had to run around a guard at the tunnel). With Marc strafing and proper lag reduction I think 5:0 could easily do it.

a 0:58 will happen someday. might take a while, but a 9 or 10-0 boost ratio, the timed mine strategy, perfect strafing, and maybe some more new lag reducing strategies could help to get the time down to that point. might take 10 or more years until then, but it will happen.

It would be interesting to know if any of the boosts are only possible because of a sub-optimal pace, the classic "X saves times but loses an equal or greater amount of time" speedrun tech. All of my GE speedrunning knowledge comes from this channel so if Goose thinks it's possible then I'll just assume it's possible, but this is a potential problem worth considering since it's been unbroken for so long. Also I'm really loving the comedic irony behind these ads, no clue why they thought a deep analysis of extremely skillful play of a decades old console game would be the ideal place to advertise the most shallow kind of modern mobile game but I hope he keeps getting that money. Not that there's anything wrong with enjoying both ends of the spectrum of course (I've dumped more hours than I care to think about pointlessly clicking around in games like NGU and Idle Wizard), it's just a really funny dissonance between ad and video topic.

Can you get a boost from that guard that everyone shoots at the back at the spiral part? Like, either by just running around him or shooting him in the arm or something to alert him and make him shoot you back while you're running up the spiral

This actually happens on Ace's 00A untied, but on Agent it would be extremely rare for the guard to react that fast (I don't think anyone has ever had it happen), the boost he gives you is not good, and killing him allows you to take much better lines.

@@mw4501 We're talking about breaking a WR that's months away from being in the top 10 longest WRs ever, so I'm sure people don't care about chance given how many insanely lucky strats there are in this game that people still use. Look at depot where you need to destroy the mainframes and munition boxes, both rely heavily on rng from the guards, and you still have to hit the train shot plus the warp, alll in the same run. People are crazy enough to do anything if it means helping them achieve a new untied WR in this game.

Seems like it has to be :59 as the next step. How else would you make it by the drone cycle with no backboost and still get a fast/clean enough ending to hit the lift. If you’re on 1:00 pace you get hit by the drone’s cycle and get back boosted to 1:01. Might even be why the mega forward boosted runs still didn’t make it. Pushing the time to 1:00.2 still might get you hit by the drone and stopping you. And having perfect strafes might make it even harder for the higher boosts with the extra chunks of a second spent in the guards presence not being there for a chance at a boost.

pretty sure pushing R makes bond lose the movespeed boost from holding forward, the time loss of stopping to throw + being slower afterwards for a while too would be hard if not impossible to make up i think. explosions are super laggy too which might lose more time too. I like your train of thought tho, and there is a crazy theoretical R lean throw on this stage on higher difficulties fwiw

Instead of shooting the mines, why not making the guards shoot at the mines as they fall? (you throw a mine in front of a guard and upwards from his position, you pass the guard and then the guard aims at you and shoots at the mine as it is falling) Easy thing Or the turrets could should at them as they fall
