Yeah, I would never go to Cedar Point Shores as a MI resident. Between MA and some indoor waterparks (zehnder's comes to mind) all the waterpark needs I could ever have are filled here in Michigan, and getting into Cedar Point Shores is EXPENSIVE when you're already paying for the dry Cedar Point, the hotel, a fast pass (unless you're willing to take some rain), etc.

I just visited Michigan's Adventure for the first time Sunday. I actually had a very good time. Atmosphere was great, it was a very scenic and charming park and there was a massive amount of things for families to do as everything had a 48inch or below height requirement except thunderhawk which had a 52. It may not have the amount of hardware as other CF parks but shivering timbers was insane and made my top15 out of 271. The water rides were also insane including that rapids ride which was mental. Employees were very friendly and hilarious to which really made my day and it is a lot cheaper than other CF parks. There was only 1 fast lane level which was only $60 and food was cheaper to. Unfortunately maintenance and ops did leave something to be desired. I missed the Zach's Zoomer cred which I was gutted about and most everything ran 1 train so even with fast lane I still waited a good 10min for rides but I had a great overall time there so no I don't think this is the worst CF park. If I had to look at total visits overall and experiences I've gotten from the 9 CF parks I've been to I'd say KI has been the one to consistently let me down as of late.

In June 2019 me and a couple of my coaster friends planned a last minute day trip to Michigan's Adventure. Originally we were supposed to go to Darien Lake however decided to do Michigan's Adventure instead. I should also mention we drove all the way from Toronto, Canada. While it certainly isn't the greatest amusement park in the world it isn't the worst one either. Shivering Timbers is a fantastic coaster, The scenery is nice, The train ride provides good photo opportunities. One thing I thought was funny is the frontier theme near the Thunderhawk area of the park as it doesn't look like any effort was put into creating a frontier theme rather than creating the name "timbertown". I also enjoyed the log flume ride. Next time when I come back I plan to try the waterpark. Overall it was a good park and I hope Cedar Fair invests more into it someday. Maybe they can start by introducing a Haunt event, Drop Tower ride and maybe a coaster similar to Impulse at Knoebels.

I definetly think it's worth it for Shivering Timbers alone. I can understand why it would struggle to keep up with today’s standards. I forced my parents at the age of 15 to drag us out of the way 1.5 hours to hit Michigan adventure coming from cedar point because we would get in free with our knotts pass. We got there right at closing, we told the front gate staff we drove all that way, they were so nice to keep shiv timbers open for just a few more min to let me and my sister ride. It is my home park, I live about 25 minutes south. Mad Mouse is a hidden gem love it, Wolverine Wildcat had some retracking and restructuring on the double down in 2019 really helped the coaster immensely. A pathway connecting Shivering Timbers to Thunderhawk is desperately needed. But yes it is the worst Cedar Fair park, and yes it is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. The park closed for the season on Monday I am hoping in the offseason the trains on Shivering Timbers get a full rehab and it runs at its full potential again.
@robertpolk99103 жыл бұрын
Hello to my fellow Michigander coaster enthusiast. MA could be so much better with a few improvements. That connecting path and one new coaster like Lightning Run at KK would make a huge difference. A few relocated flat rides along that path with the new Chance Hyper-GTX would change the whole atmosphere for under 10 million bucks. Wicked Twister is probably too tall (215 feet) for the parks profile, but it would only cost the price of relocation and new footings… probably too much to ask!

As someone from mid-Michigan, Michigan's Adventure is pretty much the default amusement park to go to if you don't live down near the Ohio border. It's not super-thrilling, but especially for families it's the "once a year day-trip during the summer" destination. I do wish the park got some more love, but I think it won't. The people who go there don't have any other parks they could go to, so excluding the southeast corner (which is close enough to go to Cedar Point) and the southwest corner (which can get to Six Flags Great America) there's no competition. Cedar Fair can get away with not bringing very many new rides to the park because most people don't have a choice unless they want to drop money on a hotel room and drive 6+ hours one way to go to Cedar Point or Six Flags Great America.

Wolverine Wildcat actually REALLY surprised me when I went this year. I’d ridden it a couple times before this, and it was just ok, but I got a front row ride, and it was surprisingly smooth. I also got a couple decent pops of ejector during the finale just before the turn into the breaks. If I had to rank the coasters, I’d give it 1. Shivering Timbers 2. Thunderhawk 3. Mad Mouse 4. Wolverine Wildcat (very close but I had to rank it lower) 5. Zach’s Zoomer 6. Corkscrew

From what I remember about 2 or 3 years ago they did improvement to wildcat that reinforced it or made it a lot more smooth. I used to not go on it unless someone asked, but now I actually love it. Had been wanting to come here for 23 years now and I finally made it last week. It’s always been just out of reach but my gf’s family lives about 2 hours away in South Bend so, it finally happened!! ShivTim was running preeeeeetty rough but I’ve certainly ridden much, much worse. It was still great. My last ride was in the very front and I was able to keep my lap bar up the whole ride and got some serious standing air time all the way through. It doesn’t seem like the track is the problem, if they would just replace the wheels on the train, I think it wouldn’t be bouncing around as much. They looked really worn (should’ve gotten a close-up pic) and were almost down to the steel!! Wouldn’t mind if they upgraded to some Millennium Flyer trains. Mad Mouse was great. Pleasantly surprised. Wolverine Wildcat wasn’t bad at all, got a better ride in front than back. Corkscrew wasn’t that bad for me, but it was still bad. Thunder hawk was running 2 trains. I kept my head out of the restraints otherwise it would’ve been a pretty bad headbanger, but not nearly as bad as Kong at my home park. The rest of the park was great, the coaster collection might not be the best but the location is quite stunning. Loved the swan peddle-boats. The only thing that bugged me was how stagnant the lake was, it could use some fountains, just one big one in the center would have really tied the whole park together!!

Just went for the first time last week - I live in Michigan, but slightly closer to Cedar Point, so...yeah. Finally got to Michigan's Adventure though and it was a nice time - Zach's Zoomer was closed unfortunately but I got 1 ride on everything else, lines were pushing an hour on some of the coasters. I was also very impressed with Mad Mouse and pleasantly surprised with Thunderhawk, and I actually got a really good ride on Corkscrew, no head banging for me. Overall I agree with your assessment, I think my ride on Shivering Timbers was hurt by the fact that my lap bar came down pretty significantly after the first drop. I was in the front row (wish I could have also tried the back to compare) and still got good airtime, but could feel it being hampered by the terrible restraints. If it weren't for this, I think I would have had a lot more airtime to make up for the jack hammering. Not quite Top 50 for me, but with some more room in my restraint I think it probably would be. For now I have it right around the Boss - I think both have a lot of potential and could be elite with some track work and better trains.

Really depends what you mean by worst. I’ve never had any problems getting on the rides or with the rides themselves. Thunderhawk is a fun ride as is ST. You never have to wait more than a half hour for either of them. The family coasters are great options with no waits. There’s space to walk around with a full family, it’s not crazy far to do everything the park has to offer so the little ones feet don’t hurt at the end of the day. You can do both the water park and dry park in one day feeling satisfied. It’s relatively cheap as far as amusement parks go. It’s a very clean and safe park, food options are fantastic and it’s a great atmosphere and the staff is very nice and helpful. It’s extremely low maintenance for CP and has very high profit margins. If the size and length of coasters is what you base it on, then yes, it’s probably the worst. But if you’re after a great experience without having to shell out hundreds of dollars for a fast pass, dry park separate from water park, parking, food, and long ass lines….this is probably the best out of all the low/mid tiers.

I definitely drive to CP more, but MA is still a fun park for younger kids.

I love that you gave Wolverine Wildcat proper respect. It is rough, but not terrible, and the quality and quantity of airtime makes up for the roughness. Plus, the middle row of any car is smoother. I live five minutes away from Michigan’s Adventure and it’s worth the annual pass because I go at least five times a year. The way to get around the lake from Wolverine Wildcat to Thunderhawk is to take the train. There’s a train station that shows up every 10 minutes that will take you into the woods and to the other side of the park. It’s very convenient. The reason Cedar Fair bought them is because the old owners had the idea of adding a resort hotel nearby; and Cedar Fair took that as a threat to their business at Cedar Point; so they outright bought the park and haven’t done anything to it.

I was there for the last day on Labor Day. It was my 3rd trip for the season. I love Shivering Timbers. It's in my top 5. But they just need some more love. That area is beautiful, and people would drive if they had a reason to. Sure, it will never be CP or KI, but something new, maybe even a return of the Timber Terror event could help get people there. I'm sure it makes Cedar Fair plenty of money as is, so that's probably why they don't feel the need to do anything. Sure would be nice though....

I had a wonderful time marathoning Shivering Timbers when I went. The airtime is elite, but not always consistent, kind of like Diamondback at Kings Island but a woodie. I got atleast 3 rides where the thing tried to launch me out of the train, it was amazing. Wolverine WIldcat was not saved by that titan track. That part is smooth but the rest of the coaster is painful, and there is no airtime off the first drop in the back. Mad Mouse was the best Wild Mouse I have ever rode.

I rode corkscrew like 20 times while I was at the park a few years ago and experienced no head banging, did something happen to the ride?
@thrillshaveabeard3 жыл бұрын
I rode it 4 times over 2 different days this year and had no head banger. I found it to be significantly better than the Corkscrew at CP. So I'm not sure.

Can you please make a video on wild waves in Washington/Seattle my experience was terrible 14 rides were closed they forgot chlorine in the water so they shut the water park down and they charged full price food tasted like school lunch and it was nearly 20 dollars for jus a burger

That awkward moment when a Corkscrew is so bad it’s worse than a kiddy coaster. Also love your thoughts on ThunderHawk. It’s rare any enthusiast can say something positive about a SLC. And I agree Wolverine Wildcat definitely doesn’t deserve the hate it gets from enthusiasts. And it sounds like Cedar Fair needs to send some people to make ops and maintenance of Shivering Timber’s a little bit better. Thanks for your thoughts on my home park. It definitely deserves better. But I also understand being a Michigander that most people go here for the water park and the few coasters are just a bonus

So we went a couple week's ago, and agreed on the Mad Mouse. Best of its kind we've ridden. I liked the wider seats, the banked turns, everything about it. The weird policies ruined our day, though. They were super tight about no food allowed, which no other park gave us trouble about. We had to take pictures to re-enter, even with our season's passes. And some of the rides needed some live. The scrambler was slow, needed oil.

I have not been there for nearly 20 years. After growing up less than an Hour from there , I was very happy when it was going to be a Cedar Fair park. Soon after they took over I heard people say they bought it to stop Michigans Adventure from expanding so it wouldnt compete with their parks. As they have not put ANY New Coasters in, I guess the critics were right. Sad to see them Ignore it.

NEW FOR 2022! Mad Mouse and Corkscrew getting repainted. Corkscrew is a teal track with possibly white supports(not sure if primer or not) and Mad mouse a vibrant red orange and yellow

You know come to think of it it is odd how inconsistent the quality of a wildmouse can be.

I live 20 minutes from that park. Us locals love the water park. We got season passes for 100$ last year and went there about twice a week to chill at the water park. It's not the greatest but really nice for the poor folks like me here in the mitten

I had been meaning to go for over a decade. Finally drove 7 hours and got up there for a two day trip. First day there I was in line for Wolverine Wildcat when the ops started gossiping about an accident at Shivering Timbers. That was the icing on the cake for this terrible park.

I went to Michigan’s Adventure last July and it’s an ok park. If Cedar Fair were to invest a little into the park they could get more people. I don’t think it needs a lot though. Shivering Timbers is a great coaster and I’ll go back next summer one day with my all season fast lane pass. When I went Corkscrew was closed and Mad Mouse had 1 train ops so I’ll have to go for those two alone since I didn’t want to wait 90 minutes for Mad Mouse.

I think Michigan’s Adventure should improve itself and maybe add a Loud House themed Royal Woods area to create synergy for the Nickelodeon Universe theme parks as a partnership with the team behind the Nickelodeon Universe theme parks!

You should go to Bobbejaanland to ride Speedy bob (Mack rides wild mouse). That thing is agressive. It never trims before a turn and the trims at the end of the ride are agressive.

Chris, I've joked that Michigan's Adventure, Six Flags America, The Great Escape, La Ronde and Dorney Park should unite together as the "Bastard Stepchildren" because .... in MY opinion ;feel free to slag me if you want; they're treated like that in the corporate hierarchy! What also hurts MA is being in Bumfrick, Nowhere! At least La Ronde is in Montreal, while Six Flags America and The Great Escape are relatively close to major cities (DC and Albany respectively) and Dorney Park is in a decent sized city (Allentown, PA). As far as SLC's go, never heard any compliments on Thunderhawk; I figured it was just like any other SLC, ya know .... janky as frick. But yeah, T3 does rattle a bit from what I've read. As for Wolverine Wildcat; from what I've read about the remaining Dinn woodies, their rankings in terms of best to worst are WW>Timber Wolf > Thunder Run > Predator.

I think this park has interesting depth with its current coaster lineup, if only it could get 1 or 2 really solid top tier coasters then itd be at least mid tier in the cedar fair lineup for me.

I have lived in Michigan all of my life. 43 years and I have never been to Michigan Adventure. Not bashing on it. But for most of us here in the mitten. We consider Michigan Adventure more of a Water Park/Kids park rather then a Thrill park. It's actually closer for me to drive to cedar point (about an hour and a half) as to driving to Mich. Adventure is about 3 hours. So it's a no brainier for me especially since the Point is the Coaster capital! Yeah a new coaster would be nice for the park. But it's never going to compare to what Cedar points new attraction are. So really why try. If anything I think they should lean in harder with the water park.
