everything must stated clearly be on the rental contract. if pay any extra deposit or second deposit then landlord should provide another deposit receipt. If landlord didn't provide the second deposit receipt then the landlord and the agent both of them are not doing correctly. They should be the one apologized to China Mac but not the other way around.

Thanks for all the good advice for anyone thinking of going to Vietnam. If I was only staying some place for 2 months I would not have painted the walls and would have just put up with the color. Or if it was bothering me that bad asked if there was another unit I could stay in. If there was not another unit I would have just forfeited the 1 month rent, got my deposit back, and asked her to help me find another place to stay.

But I'm sure if somebody does something your home that you told them NOT TO DO, you'd be OK with it, right? But I doubt you own or ever will own a home. Vietnam is full of scammers the last trip I had.. I order an appetizer chicken wings.. I was charged 4X the price.. The waiter point to the picture and said there's four chicken wings in the picture. He saw that I was full of luggage getting ready to catch a plane and don't have time to deal with them. Pos losers. I took a picture of the restaurant till we meet again.

But that landlord would be coming knocking on his door everyday looking for a payment..happend to me in Mexico where they NEVER give deposits back! It's like playing tug a rope to get it back..and yes my landlady did a 180 on her friendliness once she figured I wasn't gonna pay the last month rent. I didn't care but could only leave the apartment at night for fear they would try and take over and kick me out without my belongings during the daytime or early eves.

Deposits are pretty normal, sometimes it’s 2 or 3 months worth of rent worth of deposit to cover for damage etc

Yea I’ve been asked for 2 months before. But I also rented a place where the landlord only wanted 3 mil cash deposit. So it depends who you’re dealing with (and who you are, if they trust you)

I’ve randomly come across this guy’s content. I’m not a hundred percent filled in on what’s going on, but it looks like he has a very special way of rubbing Vietnamese people up the wrong way. The way he conducts himself in their country offends them and he seems to be unaware of this and wonders why people get angry at him. Vietnamese people are kind and welcoming, but even they have their limits, and he’s challenged all of them. I’ve not been to Vietnam yet, but it’s very high on my list. No way in hell would I act like that. I would love to learn about the culture with all deference and respect to local sensibilities.

Well explained brother--Had a chance to go through all his videos. Wow! He did a few episodes on this! Chinamac is not very smart and no one had bad intentions or even lied to him. If Chinamac was smart -- all he had to say was "I made 2 months deposit, could yould ask the Landlord how many months did he recieve?" Only he knows how many months is 1 deposit; apparently now we know that 1 month is 1 deposit. So if the landlord says 2 months then he received 2 deposits. Very simple communication to convey but he couldnt even think of it. How would Lucy know that 1 deposit is 1 month? If the Landlord said i got 2 months deposit she's going to assume it's 1 deposit! Very simple info to pass on to people but he withheld a lot of info and blamed on the people around him. No girl did anything wrong. Watching all these videos lately how he deals with situations where he is not able to record at certain places and just simply has no respect for the apartment and landlord. I'm not surprised, there is no critical thinking or common sense. Chinamac even got mad and doesnt understand why Lucy slapped him lol- imagine his friend takes his wife to male massage like that with 5 males touching on his wife, record it and put on youtube without his knowledge. WTF is wrong with this guy lol

China Mac would have known about the deposit. He knows how much 1 month rent is. He knows how much money initially paid and how much he gave the girl for the new one. I am pretty sure his deposit costs more than it would cost to buy and paint the wall in his apartment. I would have not gave another deposit unless I confirmed the cost to repaint the wall was higher than the deposit, which in Vietnam with cheap labor, I don't see how that is possible..

It's very simple. Do not paint the walls unless you are given permission! You asked for permission, you were told no! What's his problem? Besides that, Mi is complying to the rules of the owner as the agent, so nobody should over ride the rules. Plus she went out of her way to set you up in a nice place to stay dude! I can understand her anger. When you go overseas you have everything sorted before you leave, including your accommodation, so whats up with this guy?
