China did not build all of the Sunset park, the Chinese donated the second pier and the rollercoaster and the other four games. The rest of the area has been there for years. Where the roller coaster and other games are located used to be a huge amphitheater they turned down to open space for the park.

Glad you enjoyed El Salvador. Just a correction, China doesn't own sun set park or the library. They just provided the assistance, hard to believe it was done in exchange of nothing, but that's how the new government is. Also, the areas were built by Salvadorean workers. If you check other youtubers filming while it was built, you could see the workers are not Chinese.

From what I saw and the locals we spoke with they said some of the workers were Chinese and some Salvadoran, but from what I saw it was mostly San Salvadoran's working on the sites. Also, regarding China's investment, there must be some sort of return for them, whether it maybe owning some of the land or resources, nothing is for free.

Just a little detail on your information, some of the infrastructure on the new side of town in La Libertad has been donated to El Salvador, it's not own by China its paid for and build by China with the design requested by El Salvador as international cooperation, it's not a loan, and there are no attachments associated to that, Yes I know it sounds weird because we all know there is nothing free in this life but China is just looking to gain new influence in the area El Salvador was the first one in the region to beging relations with China and thanks to that now has extended to other countries in the region. In other words, its paid by China as a gift to the people of El Salvador and that's the reason why the workers are Chinese, that way the government of China saves on the labor and at the same time employs their own people, The new strip was already there before and 2 things were added. 1 is the attractions park, and the 2nd is the new pier been built on La Libertad, the other two things are a big stadium in San Salvador, and a National Library in downtown San Salvador. By the way, the guys that ask you for money is people that are heavy drinkers and do not work, never give any money to these guys because its going to end up in buying more alcohol.

Ah I see, we were told different things, some people said El Salvador will be indebted and others said El Salvador gave them nothing. It is hard to believe that China did it for free, but for the sake of having more influence it can be possible. China is doing this all over the world though, gaining influence so more of the world aligns with them politically, a very good move on China's part. And yes when it comes to homeless people I often offer food more over money, at least I know that they will eat it. Anyway, thank you for the information my friend

Only the beaches in La Libertad are rocky, if you go north ( west if you ask locals) the only rocky beach is Los Cobanos, the rest of the 300+ kms. are sandy beaches, many have white sand. Cheers.

Reality is that La Libertad is an small and underdeveloped town that will grow in the next decade but it will be far far away from the town center you visited, the weather in the coast in El Salvador is HOT, night and day, all year long, it's not the friendliest place for tourist to live, it's just a place you go to enjoy drinks and parties, if you want a nice sandy beach you don't go to La Libertad, if you are a tourist probably you better go to Mizata.

You guys are very honest. I like that. La Libertad is too damn hot. Playa el tunco unless you are a surfer, you will enjoy it. There are better beaches in El Salvador for non-surfers. I would not recommend el tunco beach.
