Many people don't know that chiropractic care can be beneficial for children. And some people actually in fear of that. Today I will walk through a chiropractic pediatric adjustment so you can see what it's like to adjust a child.

This is my daughter Savannah. She's been adjusted since her birth and she loves getting adjusted. We check her on a regular basis to make sure her body is functioning and healing at it's absolute best capacity. We are not checking her due to pain or symptoms but really just on a preventative health basis.

So I'm going to show you what's it's like to assess a child and some things you can look for in your own children. I want you to see how safe and easy it is so you can feel comfortable taking advantage of the benefits of chiropractic care for your child.

Have your child lay down straight on their stomach
Check their feet because you want to make sure they are even. If you see that one foot is shorter or longer than the other, that means there's neurological tension in the spinal cord. Because Savannah is adjusted quite often, her feet are balanced.
Bring the feet up towards your child's back and make sure they remain balanced.
Next you will feel for any tension in the back or spine. If you feel one side is higher than the other, or if you feel the muscles are tight, or your child cringes in any area that you touch, that's an abnormal muscle spasm or tension indicating that there may be a misalignment in the spine affecting the nervous system. Make sure you go through and look for movement in every segment.
When I find areas that are tight I will do a real light adjustment.
Have your child lie on their back.
Check the feet again, and see if they're balanced. If one leg is shorter than the other, that means there is neurological tension at the upper part of the neck. Neurological tension can affect things like sleep, focus, attention, sinuses, and can lead to issues like allergies, ear infections, and irritability.
Take a look at your child's posture. See if their head is tilted to one direction or turned more one way than the other. Also check to see if they can turn their head evenly to both sides.
If you see any issues in these areas, your child needs to have a chiropractic adjustment.
