You know normally I don't like looking too much into this kinda stuff because at the end of the day they are video game characters and with Resident Evil, it's always been pretty campy and not really about deep story or anything like that. But honestly with Chris and this theory, I can't help but feel there is some validity to it. The series has been out for like 20 years and it's not like it ever shied away from characters flirting with each other. I mean it's pretty clear that Leon has a thing for Ada and she feels the same way though she's a lot more playful and mysterious with it. And in Code Veronica, Steve had a crush on Claire. And as "eh" as RE6 was, it was kinda implied that Jake liked Sherry. All this to say is that the series never really shied away from attraction. And if Chris really was interested in women, they would've at least had the character flirt with a female character at some point, Jessica was practically throwing herself at him and he still wasn't interested lol. And seeing how he interacted with Piers to borderline intimate levels that he didn't really share with the female characters. At most with Jill but it was established that they were more best friends. So yeah, I thin kthat Chris really is implied to be gay but because of the nature of Japanese culture, they don't want to outright say it and instead decided to add subtle hints to clue-in the player who may be curious lol. Overall, nice video and well played haha.

I know it’s most likely “taboo” but I just wish Capcom would confirm Chris already. There’s so many interesting things that could be said and done with his character if it were confirmed. -He could have been outed and kicked out of the airforce. -He could have had a secret crush on Wesker before Re1 and the reason he despises Wesker now is because he is disgusted he used to have a crush on him. And who knows maybe Wesker somewhat reciprocated those feelings and that’s why he has a soft spot/obsession with Chris even though he would rather die than admit it. - It would just make Chris and Piers relationship that much more meaningful. -And last but not least, I feel like it would be nice if by the time of Re Village he had a secret husband he would see off mission and the two of them would raise Rose Winters together. How wholesome would that be? It may take forever but I’ll never stop waiting for the day where we may finally get the answer to this question. I just hope it’s the one that we’re looking for.

Some additional clues - he appears to be a fan of the band ‘Queen’; the only special stylus interaction in the 3DS game are if you touch his hair (which he fusses with) or butt; and his early appearance and backstory as a rebellious Air Force pilot could be seen as loosely inspired by the Top Gun protagonist played by Tom Cruise, who is also widely speculated to be a closeted gay. (Perhaps when that’s your source material, art imitates life 😝) I also think his lack of onscreen heterosexual interest is more conspicuous than mentioned here. Not watched yet. Yes. Absolutely. He and Jill are partners, platonic and eternal best friends. Sheva very quickly becomes his (insert UK slang for cigarette here) hag. Jessica tries to flirt relentlessly with him and he just flat out ignores her efforts (girl take a hint!). He has so much tension with Wesker (who acts like an obsessive ex with him). He has a whole lot of suggestive tension with Piers, as well as little oddities like it seems like Piers answers Chris' phone when Claire calls him at the end of Revelations 2 and she acts as if thats completely normal. Add to that all the little non canon tidbits like his muscle bear leather daddy outfit, his hotpants sailor outfit. And now, to watch and see how much of that is brought up!

I doubt it, Chris pretty much has been fighting bioterriosm for most of his life. Pretty much dedicating it to one sole purpose, to end bioterriosm. This is probably the main reason nothing has been explored for him outside of his close bond with Jill since he is pretty much the face of the entire Resident Evil Franchise. Hell even when he's literally 64 years old in "Shadows of Rose" he's still in the background watching over Rose because it's his mission. Chris' life is truly dedicated to it, but hope we get to see him settle down whenever his final game is.

Something interesting about Chris is that even in the original RE1, his interactions with Rebecca and Jill are completely devoid of any romantic tones. Chris was worried about Becca but the tone is clearly different than she had with Billy. And even when saving Jill from imprisonment, the hug and the music choice gave it more of a platonic feeling rather than romantic. In the remake the hug lasts even less and there's no special music about it, with Jill getting straight to the point of getting out of there. Take into account the original RE3 where Carlos and Jill CLEARLY were set up to have this chemistry but Jill was not interested, yet she softened a lot after Carlos saved her (alternate cutscene, touching of the cheek). I don't even need to say that in the remake, as bad as it is, they really went all in with the romantic intentions. This is in PAST games, where comments like the "foxy ladies" from Carlos were accepted. Yet with Chris, AGAIN, in Code Veronica, mission focused, of course in that case it makes sense, her sister was on the line, but they went out of their way every time to avoid romantic settings with Chris. I could see that being intentionally part of Chris' personality, not Capcom not wanting to reveal it. Chris had to protect Claire and raised her since they were kids, orphaned. When you have to take up on the parenting role since very young it leaves no room for thinking about relationships, as time goes on and on and you get older, you realize that you're so out of the dating game that you don't even know how to act about it, you get clumsy or straight up avoid situations like that, and you realize you don't even know what you like. Some people in this role eventually do find love via sentimental and deep bonds. The one that got the closest to that is Piers, Chris definitely felt comfortable enough to not hide his emotions but Piers made him remember things he wanted to forget. I saw Chris open up way more to Piers due to their whole ordeal. I can see him being absolutely confused about relationships and being too embarrassed to ask Claire for any advice, and asking Jill, and Jill being one of her closest partners helping him figure things out little by little (it isn't like she's an expert either). They share an amazing platonic relationship. Short answer: I do believe he's not completely straight, but I also don't think he's exclusively gay. Man had it rough since childhood and we know that he got into S.T.A.R.S. thanks to Barry's recommendation because Chris had quite the temper. All attitudes matching with a man that had to step up way too young. If they do reveal their orientation eventually, I'll be fine with whatever it is. Chris is honestly super awesome that detail shouldn't matter at all.

Another hint also being in the ending where Jill and Barry only survive, Jill asks to Barry “your wife?” And then Barry begins to say his wife and daughters always wait for him to return, he then immediately stops and his face twists and then apologises to Jill, to which Jill responds ‘Don’t worry about that, I know he must still be alive.” Jill is talking about Chris and Barry apologises because he knew Chris and Jill cared for each other, the conversation was about family.)

In the official timeline and lore though, it says both Chris and Jill were running around the mansion and doing their respective stories. That's why RE1 (and it's remake) is the only Resident Evil game where it is impossible to do a fully canon playthrough.

Of course I do like joking about Wesker's obsession with him in RE5, but that's just jokes.(Knowing their history..yeah) I still do hope they will hint on his relationship with Jill a little bit more. (Many RE characters aren't that open about their romantic relationships either, as it doesn't have a value to the story) And Chris is just... well, Chris.
