I heard a message on this recently that said, it’s not about what it means to us or how we are trying to celebrate it, it matters what it means to *Him*. God is the one being worshipped and He has always been clear about not wanting other gods leftovers and slapping His name over the top of it (think of when the Israelites tried to convert other gods altars to use as the Lords- just no!). We are so far removed from the originations of a lot of these traditions that we think they’re not a big deal or it doesn’t matter anymore but to the Lord it’s the same as if it were 100 or 1000 years ago and he remembers good and well what they mean. It would be like giving your wife a gift that was for your first wife and saying “no , no sweetie, she means nothing to me! This locket is now for you!” She’s not going to want it and neither does God. I think you, dear brother Mark, are the one who needs to wake up and check your convictions and justifications.

@@HalleluYAH-b5dI think there are plenty of people who come in with good intentions and it doesn’t mean that the Lord wants it. I think that this whole “issue” of Christmas is not a salvation issue because of that. If you are a Christian and choose to celebrate, I don’t think the Lord will condemn you or that you are damned, etc. Where the issue comes in is for those Christians who feel convicted in their faith to choose not to, and have reasons for it, they are being told they are legalistic, need to be examined (like Pastor Mark said) or they are just dumb. I think that’s a problem. I think there are a myriad of reasons why Christmas should not be celebrated by Christians but most people don’t want to have a discussion about it and that’s fine. But there’s a reason for the saying “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Good intentions doesn’t get you out of being accountable for what the Holy Spirit convicts you of. And if you don’t feel convicted, then that’s great. Don’t shame others who do.
@user-wx4iq3fy4c11 ай бұрын
@@HalleluYAH-b5dcompletely agree. The Lord convicts and leads each of us differently (I.e. some to marry and others to stay single, some to pastor, some to a different service) so where people are convicted is a personal journey. Where I disagree with Mark here is his dismissive attitude toward that Christian grandfather who does feel convicted. I also don’t like the dismissive nature towards what others use as their reasonings like it not being his actual birthday. Yes, we can celebrate it any day if you so choose but others aren’t wrong when they say 1) traditionally birthdays aren’t celebrated, 2) the Bible never asks us to celebrate this, 3) Nimrod, aka a sun god, had his birthday celebrated on December 25th and the church wanted to redeem that day, etc. there’s lots of different reasons and rationales and to belittle those is just wrong. However, you and I seem to be in agreement that Christians should be free to express the holiday (or not) in whichever way they choose; I just wish more Christians felt the same.

@@HalleluYAH-b5d I like Pastor Mark too. I greatly disagree with him on this topic and in his demeanor and delivery here. It doesn’t change his gifted ministry or any fundamental element of him as far as his salvation goes- I don’t think I ever intimated that?- but as I originally said, and stand by, I think that on this topic, he needs to have a good long think on it and, at the very least, be open to a discussion with those believers on the other side of the debate/topic/issue. The dismissive and condescending attitude isn’t winning over anyone.

@@KimberlinzI agree. And I think that is where the Christians who choose not to celebrate Christmas are *mostly* coming from. I say mostly because not all do so from a heart perspective but can come from a legalistic or knee jerk reaction sort of space. For the majority of them though, they have “tested the spirits” so-to-speak, as we are called to do, and have felt convicted to walk away from something that does not, from their estimation and view, honor God. I did not hear one argument or justification from Pastor Mark that changed my mind in where the Holy Spirit has led me and all I experienced was disappointment in his attitude and response (and I usually find his demeanor refreshing or funny). There are so many problematic issues with Christmas and the fact that the church either 1) dismisses them, 2) rejects them or 3) ignores them is just really difficult for me to understand. I just think it’s a heart issue; if your instant reaction when someone wants to discuss the topic is to shut them down or shut them up, you may have to ask yourself why you are so attached to a day. 🤷🏻♀️

To those sincerely and deeply seeking/searching for truth: Pastor Robert Breaker (You Tube) provides a very detailed teaching on Christmas, which is supported by a plethora of historical facts. Some of the content includes the pagan origin of the tree; the lies about St. Nicholas (made up cover for Santa [Satan]); Nimrod (Nimrod's birthday is December 25). Its well done. It is an eye opener. I humbly and graciously recommend listening and....at least considering other possibilities. I am not disagreeing with Pastor Mark Driscoll...but am attempting to bring additional awareness of satanic distortions of Christian holidays. Satan has been twisting and perverting everything that is Godly, in attempt to steer us away from Biblical/God truths. Most Christians have come up in apostate churches. There are more apostate churches than true Biblical churches. It's a challenge facing most of us. Catholicism is loaded with paganism. Mormonism is a distortion of Christianity. And then there are the apostate churches...and groups...Osteen...Hinn....Meyers....etc. Its difficult to be different. Its difficult to refuse to participate in Christmas traditions that we have been faithfullly following for years...but the path is narrow and we are being asked to make important choices. Its up to us to determine what choices feel in alignment with Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. One cannot honor God, while simultaneously practicing Paganism and paying hommage to Santa (satan). As we become closer to God and more immersed in the Word, the false beliefs and traditions fall away. May we all peel the scales back from our eyes and open to the truth. God Bless.

And the idea that Christmas trees are pagan is a myth. According to the Encyclopedia of Christmas and New Year’s Celebrations: "The earliest known Christmas tree ornaments were apples. Medieval actors used them to decorate the paradise tree, the central prop of the paradise play, a medieval European mystery play often performed on December 24. The apples represented the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden" (p. 583).

I completely agree. Christmas is pagan. Also if you are celebrating Santa then you are "lying" to your kids. Do not lie it is a part of the ten commandments. Also Jesus wasn't even born in December, why is it that we celebrate it then..its because the sun God Mithras, was born December 25th and they chose Jesus birthday be the same day so they could all celebrate it on one day( look it up). Anyways why would anyone want to support that? If it's about Jesus then celebrate in September and don't celebrate it near this outrageous holiday. It's okay to be around family and share gifts but do not speak of christ and then celebrate these types of things. We have four children and we no longer celebrate holidays since we became born again in Christ. I understand if my family wants to celebrate it but they do not push us too.

👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 I’ll tell you what is grievous ~ NOT keeping the true Sabbath! When God created the world in which we live, He said to keep the Sabbath holy. Sabbath is the seventh day. Sunday is NOT Sabbath. Saturday IS the Sabbath. Maybe people arguing against Christmas & other events should rethink their position on this topic!!!
@jockdasher615111 ай бұрын
You are correct: Sunday is not the Sabbath day, the seventh day of the week. Bear in mind that God's instruction to keep the Sabbath was given to Israel and is only mentioned in the Old Testament. However, Jesus -- who said He came to fulfill the Law and bring a new covenenant to all believers (Jews AND Gentiles) -- was resurrected on Sunday, the first day of the week. Additionally, Acts 20 provides evidence the the early Church met on the first day of the week to break bread and remember Christ's death and resurrection, as well as to minister to one another. The New Testament also informs us that early Christians still met in local synagogues sometimes during the week, but it gives no mention of Saturday being a special day to be observed by Christians. Christ came to free us from the Law.

If you read ALL of the Bible, you'll learn that the Law could never truly save anyone; it only served to show mankind that no one could keep the entire Law. You break one Law, you break THE Law. That's why Jesus said He was the fulfillment of the Law. His sacrifice on the cross atoned for all sin, something that neither animals sacrifices or the Law could not do. Jesus instituted a New Convenant, apart from the Law -- to Jews AND Gentiles -- and He said there are only TWO commandments: Love God with all your heart, soul and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself. The New Convenant brought freedom from the Law, not bondage to it. Check out the book of Romans.

Half the Church doesnt even celebrate Christmas on December 25th so it a moot point to bash the 25th which is symbolic. Everything in the world is touched by the fallenness of sin. Everything has been used for idolatry and paganism at some point. Sex has been used for pagan purposes, but you aren't doing away with sex in marriage. All of history is tainted and none of us judge others who sincerely worship Him on a day He created whether Jesus was born on it or not at least people are celebrating Him. At that there were times God rebuked Israel for celebrating the right feasts, the right days, but with the WRONG heart and motive. The feast of Lev.23 never changed but even Purim and Hanukkah are "added" feasts. Rosh HaShanah and was a time when Kings went to battle so there were lots of things in the ancient near east that God redeemed like Pastor Mark says. Not everything in Israel's culture in the Torah is original but God gave the true record and implementation of such.

His conception was on or around December 25. If you follow the timeline of Luke chapter 1, you see that Zacharias was performing his duties from June 13-20th (Chronicles chapter 24 has the priestly divisions set out by King David). He was born physically 180 days later(a perfect human gestation period) on September 29, celebrated by early Christians as the Festival of Michael and all Angels, or Michaelmas. The Bible is very clear on the conception date. And in the actual year he was physically born, SEPTEMBER 29 was during the Feast of Tabernacles (or firstfruits). This gives Christ’s Crucifiction, sending the Holy Spirit, and actual birth a direct connection to all 3 major Jewish holidays. John even hinted to us, that “the Word became flesh, and dwelled among us.” The word “dwelled” is correctly translated “tabernacled”. Just some food for thought on this topic. Also, the Israelites believed that life begins at conception, and as Elizabeth’s womb “leapt” when Mary came into her presence, we know that Jesus was indeed alive and present in her womb, and thus actually DID ARRIVE on December 25.❤️🙏 7:14

THERE'S ONLY 2 WORLDS: the Spiritual and the Physical. Since the beginning of days, after the disobedience of ADAM, the world has been divided. Love GOD or NOT. GODs way, or the way of the world. Many beliefs that we celebrate are.....NOT.... GODs way, plan, or desire Christmas, Easter, etc..... Comics, movies and cartoons are nothing more than a "spinoff" of the Bible, with a different twist. (I could make hours long videos about Marvel Comics (and MCU) being a direct resemblance to the Bible. Mathew 7:21-23 talks about those that did all kinds of great things in the name of the Lord, many good works and miracles and healings and even casting out demons in his name. But for some reason were still seen as unworthy to enter into the kingdom and pastors giving passes on practicing pagan holidays just might be among those who profess his name but dont make it in. We aren't supposed to mix what is Holy with what is profane (Ezekiel 22:26). Be not many masters/trachers, knowing that we shall recieve the greater condemnation. (James 3:1)

“to him who is pure, all things are pure” so go sacrifice a human on Halloween. That’s your argument sir….

Jeremiah 10 clearly tells us not do the tree. This guy doesn’t know the scripture. Birthdays could be considered pagan. Christmas is shrouded in the blood of the innocent. We don’t worship cars. People worship fertility symbols like wreaths and trees. We are told not to learn the ways of the he’s then. Read the Bible bro

Yes the Bible does give us the info needed to find his birth. Luke 2 gives us almost all we need. Zechariah was of the tribe of Abijah when serving in the Temple. Use that date to time when he slept with Elizabeth. Then take when Mary visited Elizabeth. Count the days and you get late September. Look into it! Look up Chuck Missler on this issue. Jeremiah talks about trees in chapter 10. Look that up too. That being said I agree it's best not to take it too seriously but there are answers to questions.

You were one of my favorite Pastor's on youtube. Not anymore. All you did was mock christians who are walking in obedience and the truth and justified and made excuses for your disobedience. We are in this world but we are not of this world and we do not enjoy or partake in the things of this world, the lust of the eyes, the flesh and the pride of life. I hoping and praying you will examine your heart and repent for twisting God's word.

Most people like grandpa don’t like to celebrate Christmas because of pain and trauma and heart ache They jus use the excuse of calling the celebration pagan to mask their pain and the real reason of not partaking
