My favorite, hmm. I'm kind of torn between this one, "Cosmic," or "Beautiful Morning." "We love you" is really cool too. It's a fun journey to listen to this album. Knowing how Avenged is, though, I need more time, like years, to know which one is going to be my favorite. To my mind, they are the best band ever.

Yes. I saw it on his first album with him.. it really fits where they have gone and where they are going. As much as I loved the Rev and his stuff on the other albums....and it was perfect for those... Brookes is phenomenal and brings something very different but very dynamical fits so well with this musical path they have taken.

Ive seen a LOT of comments saying "they forgot how to write transitions, the record is a mess, it sounds chaotic." This song tells me that all of those "chaotic" design choices were just that, choices. They did not "forget how to write transitions." They wanted to try something new and let the music truly tell a larger story. I love this song to bits.

Life is but a Dream reminds me of when Linkin Park dropped "A Thousand Suns". Very polarizing and not what was expected on release but now everyone likes it years later. I think it will be the same for A7X's new album, people just need time.

Going from the new Metallica album to this one, it was a huge difference. Generic solos, and generic sounds in Metallica to this brilliant album. I've been a fan of A7X since City of Evil, and this album makes me so glad I stuck with the band. Somehow this song is sad because the listener MAKES it sad. It has this amazing ability to pull memories and thoughts out of you that just put this whole picture together, and makes you think of the past, present, future, and beyond, and all your loved ones. I get how it’s really hard for people to accept that a7x is in their mid 40’s now, and Matt isn’t able to scream that much anymore, etc. but they did what they were comfortable with doing in LIBAD. They did what they wanted to do and they were still so creative with this new album. There are some negatives but I think there are a lot more positives that come from it along with the fact that they’re not one of those bands that does the same shit every single album. It shows how insanely talented and creative these guys are to be able to explore all sorts of sounds and still make them sound good. To the people who only listen to A7X for their interest of metal, they probably hated it. Just because it doesn’t fuel YOUR interest, doesn’t mean this is a shitty album. I…agree with 99.9% of what you said, but Matt has some killer screams on this album that are as strong as anything he’s done since the early days. Regardless, yeah i think most people that are just outright hating on it didn’t even want to accept what the band was doing in the first place, and its ok if its not someone’s style, but like you said, you gotta respect it. It’s a solid album even if its not for everyone.

People have forgotten how to listen to music. It's a good thing I'm not an crazy a7x fan, so I wasn't expecting anything from the album. But I was pleasantly surprised, because this is what music should be. It's art, not just a bunch of singles. Those who don't like this album are the tiktok generation. Everyone expects heavy guitars, simple rhythm and predictable phrases. They are not interested in the message of the album, the lyrics and experiments. Believe me, people who really listen to Music and not singles, they will like the album because it is a journey. I'm glad the album turned out that way. It will stay on my playlist for a long time and I will listen to it in its entirety, not individual tracks.

I wanna say - on first listen, I already loved that humongous snare reverb that you mentioned at 2:55. But then I had the chance to watch A7X perform this song live in Jakarta (just 3 weeks ago) and I swear, in the live rendition, that reverb feels SO MUCH MORE MAJESTIC like it echoes throughout the whole god damn universe. Great Reaction! Metalheads hate it. Musicheads Love it. I think people will love the songs more if they think of the 3 aspects: Music, Concept, Lyrics Love how they are heavily circling around Absurdism and Existentialism. Here are my short overview for each song. These can still be expounded upon as the lyrics have multiple layers to them : 1. Game Over - Meaninglessness of Life 2. Mattel - Reference to the Truman Show. Simulation/Illusion but in reality everything is predefined. Much like a continuation to The Stage album concept 3. Nobody - Realization that we are "one with the universe" and a "nobody" in the grand scheme of things 4. We Love You - Most say it's about capitalism. But I interpret the song as representation of human ego and the illusion of choice. Thinking about it, Capitalists only 'capitalizes' over human ego and greed to 'manufacture a need' (more more more...build build build...we love you...you're on in a million). Without these 2 human qualities they are nothing. Problem is, we cannot separate these 2 qualities to our humanity. Thus, in the end, we consume what they provide regardless. 5. Cosmic - Cycle of Life and Death. The idea that we are all made up of the same cosmic energy - we do not go away. We just take up a new form or has been in a different form in our past lives. Written in beautiful love song 6. Beautiful Morning - A character who faces an inner struggle and attempt to find meaning. This character they are trying to portray in this song is everyone's worst day of their life. 7. Easier - The same character who wants to Surrender. Suggesting to take the 'easy way out'. Uplifting music but sinister meaning between the lines. I interpret the random 'pew pew pew' sounds at the solo that the character has thoughts about taking that gun to the head. Again another cute sci-fi gun sound a contrast to it's meaning. 8. G - Referencing the story of Creation. And an irritated God is contemplating to just wants to delete what he made and restart. 9. Ordinary - Other songs talk about suicide, emptiness, meaninglessness, hopelessness, etc of human life. This song is an attempt to say that "you got a problem with life? I don't even have one and I desperately want it. you must be lucky to live" from an AI (thus the electronic vibe). This song is perfectly placed in the sequence of the album because right after it, the human in the next song commits suicide nonetheless without regard. 10. Death - The same character from 'Beautiful Morning' and 'Easier' in the end commits suicide 11. LIBAD - Closing the curtains Everything is done with intent. It's chaotically beautiful

At 0:51 you say piano, but I believe it's a POG effect on the guitar. They did a breakdown of Exist and there's a similar tone in the song which they said was done using a POG pedal. Pretty cool sound though. Also at 3:08 I believe it's just a single hit and not a flam judging by the sound of it and only hearing one sticking. They just added a good bit of effects on it.

A7x almost never uses autotune, they also do everything. They dont really like to rely on effects but obviously now theyre experimenting and branching out some more. Like in a little piece of heaven they had an orchestra and choir record with them and a female vocalist. The whole band can do backing vocals essentially too so they hardly ever need to use anything.

I love it. I’m convinced that the line “Pain, it found its way back in, until we meet again, into that good night” is him talking about the last time he saw The Rev. M Shadows has struggled with the fact that after their roadie Jason’s wedding, he turned in for the night despite The Rev’s insistence that they take a keg left over from the wedding back to Shadow’s house that was just down the street from the wedding venue. He said good night to The Rev so he could get to bed because of his early tee time the following morning. He feels that if he just let The Rev stay that he could have protected him. The Rev told Shadows good night, he loved him, and scurried off into the night to continue the party with people he didn’t know. M is haunted by all the what if’s. Tragic.

I haven't really heard any insightful criticisms of this album. Just people who were expecting something, put it on, didn't match their expectation, and said "it's trash" as if they're qualified to sum up a work of art that way. The album is brilliant. Cosmic isn't really my jam but I can appreciate the musicianship in it. My favorite is Beautiful Morning.

When I listen to the newer songs, I always imagine that the parts that are now with the extreme effects on the vocals would maybe in a different time line have been sung by James. (Which when you imagine it in your head would have sounded incredible)

Loved this song, thanks. The guitar solo kind of made me think of joey satriani, not like a direct comparison just the feeling it had...maybe im crazy. Also the entire song kind of gave me a feeling of gnr's november rain. Thanks for the video

I totally hear those comparisons too. I hadn’t thought about Satriani until you mentioned him, but it really does sound like his style in a way. I thought about November Rain the first time I heard the song, and it just made me love it that much more.
