GPUs are used in AI/ML not only for image graphics processing like in video gaming. GPUs in AI/ML context is used for crunching a lot of parallel matrix computations across millions & billions of rows of data sets for training ML models. And in cryptocurrency mining context, GPUs are used for massive parallel hash computations to solve the cryptographic puzzles which are meant for validating/guaranteeing the transactions. In a nutshell GPUs do a lot of parallel math computations.
