And every year there are people who act like it is sooooo offensive and rude. It is a reality tv competition it’s just fun. Plus most of the viewers only have drag race as their perspective on drag so that’s what they can compare these queens to. Let people have their fun they aren’t hurting anyone. The queens who have been on the show do it all the time too as well as just drag queens in general do it every season too so I don’t think it is as big of an issue as people make it out to be. 🤷‍♂️

Comparison is normal and gonna happen in any space. And comparing queens doesn't take away their talent or merit. People shouldn't let the comparisons overshadow the new girls but it's gonna happen.

I have to share one of the most hilarious moments from a _Drag Race_ viewing party during the premiere this last week. In the Werkroom, the queens were painting their faces in preparation for the runway and while I had to look away for a moment, I overheard another drag queen of later vintage (a less dangerous way of saying "old queen") scoff and bark out "For f*ck's sake! These new b*tch*s go wayyyyy overboard with the color correction!" The room roared with laughter. Glancing up at the screen, I realized we were all looking at a shot of Dawn, who favors painting her face entirely in pinks, purples, and other fantasy colors. _For the sake of those unfamiliar with color correction, it's a makeup concept that many drag queens use to diffuse natural shadows or tones present in the skin. Based on the color wheel, one first lays down a tone of whichever color is from appears directly opposite the color or tone they wish to conceal. For instance, if you seek to better conceal red spots or blemishes, using a green toned corrector would cancel out the redness. The dark tones of a heavy beard, the sideburns, and undereye circles are broken up by first laying down an orange hue. It's a valuable tip to better conceal a five o'clock shadow from appearing at 11pm. If interested, google "color correction." One final tidbit of info: Though they may not openly admit the impact_ RuPaul's Drag Race _and drag in general has had on the mainstream cosmetic industry, most of the recognizable brands have released their own line of "color correctors." You do not need these. I've seen queens use powder eyeshadow, cream blushes, and even colored lipsticks to accomplish the same effect. As with much of the drag concepts, the best way to learn is through trial, error, and research._
