Hi Jay. I've got an ebike and I'm thinking about doing cycle delivery. It would be good if you could do a video specifically for people thinking about starting. giving what companies to sign up to, what equipment you need, what you wish you'd know before you started. I see just eats require you have your own food delivery bag. How much should you spend on one, how big should it be, do you need shoulder straps, can you get one that fits your pannier rack? How does subcontracting for other riders work out? Is that a good way to start? Anyway just an idea for a video.

Heey dont give up Gig hustle . This is something you love being out and about keeping busy doing deliveries even if they are failing and slowing down at the moment.. maybe try a different delivery service that doesnt do fast foods split up your shifts and go do the evening ride working shifts wen its abit busier .. we no you travel to different locations and still ends up being the same ..im sure you can find a new delivery scheme to splut your days and contents up . Must be getting hard for delivery drivers due to cost of living. I have consciously cut down to one a month, used to be 5/6. Restaurants upped prices to try and survive during energy crises yet none have dropped prices since.... greedy, so will never order from those shops again. Standard Fish and Chips now £20+ for 2!!!! We live on an island surrounded by fish! Far too much profiteering during a crises, people remember as it hits their pocket. All the best to you.

Definitely fish and chips is no longer a cheap meal we are a family of 5 so a chippy tea is the best part of £50 and I can't really afford to spend that for one family meal more than once a month really is crazy times at the moment 🐠🍟👍

Shops rent goes up almost 50%or more as everything else that's why they charging more than before plus gas and electric no owner wants to increase price as its bad for business but have to do it to run the business and pay wages businesses are closing as a result of long inflation if you notice

Treat it like a side hustle...it's better to make £8-10 per hour rather than just sitting around doing nothing. Don't expect to make too much from it and make sure you have another stable income. I wouldn't want to do this full-time...not anymore anyways!

It's a really fun job, especially if you already cycle everywhere. I question the wage but also think any minimum wage job is unviable with such high prices.

I think its still possible to deliver food full time. Depending on where you live obviously, but you just have to be willing to work most days and hit the peak times throughout the day. That way your time is spent more efficiently rather than being sat around when its super quiet. Looking back i wished id of worked a lot more during lockdown with all them juicy boosts they used to have 😢

The trouble is what sort of a life is that? There's a few riders I speak too who do 12pm-12am everyday, yeah they're making good money but the rent round here is super high and they literally don't do anything else, they're either sleeping or riding. You've gotta have a work life balance. I signed up in lockdown but never actually rode until royal mail went on strike, gutted I didn't drag myself out earlier!

Personally the money isn't the end of the world for me, I love cycling and I enjoy delivery work in general (my day job is a postie) Luckily I can afford my bills on my regular wage and anything that I earn on roo I split between play money and savings. There's some days where I don't earn min wage but at least it's gotten me out the house, that money even if it's a tenner an hour is more than I would earn sat on my ass

In America. No one cares about bicycle couriers and drinks. I'm serious. I'm the size of an average 10 to 12 year old girl at 4'11" and 95 lbs. I was loaded up with 4 large cold drinks yesterday and food. I have an insulated backpack, and I use a plastic divider to keep drinks and food apart. It's much smaller than yours. I can't carry as much on my tiny body as bigger adults can. Needless to say. I had to demand that every takeaway place tapes the tops of the drinks. When they refuse. I am brazen, and I have no fear about getting it myself. I carry cellophane tape, aka Scotch tape in the US. I LOVE how the UK cares about drinks for bike couriers. I'll have to invest in tape in bulk. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks! My bike is a 250w motor so it's legal and can't do them kind of speeds. I can do like 15-20mph with pedalling hard and also the GoPro makes it seem much faster than it is in reality!

Considering you're only using one platform, your earnings aren't too bad. Stuart are losing JE orders where I work next week so will have to rely on Deliveroo orders as JE gave me 7 hours... Waste and recycling operatives are not on good money. Its hard and physically demanding job. the benefits are that its early finishes but early starts, many are on task and finish plus a good pension as its local government. Fair play to the shout out to the hard work the refuse collectors do. In terms of yourself on deliveroo etc you need to weigh up the money you now make on it per hour, the youtube revenue plus your time. Im sure you could make another youtube channel and people will still watch it.

Deliveroo like a lot of things are run by classist and racist devils. I just gave up after all that off-peak £2.30 nonsense from Uber and less than £3.75 and took hospitality trials even though the businesses made me waste time I used the experiences in kitchen to claim I was working somewhere 18-months using a name of potential COVID affected business / tapas restaurant on the CV well I did get trials though but helped me get a good workout job at a warehouse where I can lift wine boxes for fun now.
