Dear Nana. basically I have done DevOps since the 80ties. It was not called DevOps. My lesson is that learning tools, high level, programming, etc is the "easy" part, but now, many years later, handling the constant changing organization, roles, skills levels by people, resource limits, dependencies, is the hard part.

Thanks Nana. As usual you can explain complex things in clear terms. From 6:48, she touches a very important point. It is "easy" to identify tools that can help and areas that takes time, but to change it, if not only depending on you, the hard work (communication) starts. Conflicting interesting, constant changes from management, vendors, other teams, is a big challenge.

I've enrolled in Nana's bootcamp, and it truly is excellent. She breaks everything down in detail, and explains complicated concepts in a concise manner that is easy to follow. The videos are visually stimulating and engaging, there are challenging exercises to make sure you understand the material (in the premium version), and projects to showcase your knowledge. I'm making steady progress through the exercises and have learned a lot, yet at the same time taking my time to make sure I really learn and internalize the material. Highly recommended!

As a DevOps specialist, this is a great video for people considering whether focusing on DevOps is the right path for them. It covers all the main attributes you need to do well. You certainly need more proactive drive and attention to high and low-level detail than your average developer or operations support person.

Very good video! I’m a RoR developer and I’m very happy specializing even more for the time being. I do enjoy creative solutions and teamwork, but using Ruby every day makes me really happy, I don’t know if spending time learning dozens of tools and integrating them together would feel as much fun to me even if I do enjoy efficiency in everything I do

Stressful? Yes. Satisfying? Yes. ADHD approved? YASSS

just learn basic python & JavaScript (goLang is good too, their docs are very straightforward & it's basically a modern C) also learning shell will be extremely beneficial (Win PowerShell or Linux Bash, most of the basic commands are the same) I'd recommend JavaScript over the rest as a starting point but everybody is different.

Hi Nana, In India, most of the companies are having support and infra kind of role in Devops which many are not liking it at all as it is a 24/7 role. Would like to know on particular roles of Devops people would be more interested to work upon rather than troubleshooting issues when application is down.

I love devops! I personally find devops to be more technical oriented vs being a developer.... as a developer you need to know exactly how the clients apps work and the UX of it all.... but with devops you just need to understand the overall structure and demands of the teams and deployments.

Thanks Nana for the great video. I am looking into pitch in DevOps area. As you were saying we should explore many tools but not specialized on one. If one is not expert in that specific tool how they can optimize and innovate? Knowing many toil is good to have exposure but master of none is danger. Every month some DevOps tools are releasing not sure having learning that many tools which does more or less same job helps. Please let me know your thoughts.

im definitely a generalist. I know hardware really well, that led me to system administration, virtualization/physical servers/different operating system and how to administer. Then the virtualization led me to more advanced networking need and worked on some cisco certifications and worked as network plus system admin. then i learned ansible and it helped me automate stuff with routers and with patches. Then i got into docker as the was a need to reduce costs and make servers faster. then there was a need to monitor everything so i installed my First ELK Stack for monitoring. In the middle i found and cyberSecurity and did a CEH and got a master degree as well. And then i found out Dev Ops and im working into it as the next path as i have great communication skills due to my past work in sales. Should i continue with this? What do you say?
