@chocsundae44254 ай бұрын
I’m 48 female and I found out my Testosterone level is abnormally low. I’ve been very tired lately so I asked my MD to order some bloodwork such as Vit D level, iron, B12, CBC, chem, lipid profile and premenopausal hormones. I googled Supplements and DHEA came up so I decided to give it a try. I took the first dose 10 mg/day and immediately felt a difference. After 1 hour of taking it, I actually went to the gym after not being able to work out for almost a year because I’ve been so tired. Been going to the gym for the past 4 days. I feel energized. Is it psychological? -I seriously doubt it. My hormones will be checked again in 6 months

DHEA is a pro hormone. I dont know what my Testosterone level is because I don't care about the number. Focusing on the number is the wrong approach as everyone is different. How you feel and function should be the ultimate guideline.
@joe-rm4bl4 ай бұрын
Yes everyones testosterone levels are different which is why you need to get it checked in order to see if you are low or high.
@danielsykes75584 ай бұрын
I would say yes & no. If you have no symptoms, don't check the number, because even "low" might work for you, you may be more sensitive to it etc. But if one does have symptoms, (I'm being a hypocrite here) one should check levels first before trying to up levels. For example, I shouldn't take the supplements I throw at my body most likely, as I have PTSD caused psychogenic sexual dysfunction. My doctors have never had me check my testosterone levels. It could be good to know, but my symptoms aren't really from that. The number may not matter in my case, so taking the supplements I try is kinda pointless/dangerous That being said, when I work out, I feel my best. Doesn't get rid of PTSD, but depression and my health feel better, so ... Maybe I should save some money and focus on exercise before supplements.
@samprice67354 ай бұрын
I agree. The normal range is so wide that if you get your levels checked and you are just in the lower normal range a doctor will say your fine. But if you don’t feel fine that maybe you had been at the upper end of the normal range and actually this is a third or less of what you are used to hence why you feel low. So I agree numbers are only a guide, how you feel is a more important compared to your normal. Only way numbers could help is if you had your levels checked at a younger age so you know what is normal for you, then years later you know if your low for you if even in the normal range. Also testosterone to estrogen ratio is important than actual test levels. You can have high test and high estrogen and feel terrible because the balance is off and you just need to reduce estrogen levels.

Here is what works for my healthy hormonal balance as a man: Longjack, Tribulus, ashwagandha, Maca roots, 2-3 grams of proteins per kilo body weight. I am currently doing somewhat low carb diet (110-130 grams carbs per day) and from experience, this is keeping me lean but also having a toll on my sxx drive where as, if I just go full carbs mode, my sxx drive will go significantly up but it will also mean I start getting belly fat and overall more fat. I like my current body fat %, I think it's around 10%-15% now and if I go full on carbs, it will become more like 17%-23% and my chest will start to get gyno. Obviously I am way stronger in the gym when I eat lots of carbs and I get a lot of respect from the males around me, some of them don't even dare to make eyecontact when I am bulked up with carbs, but I prefer being more lean and less stronger, it looks more healthy in the mirror, the only downside is the less respect you get, as a male in the city walking out at night, you obviously feel less anxious when you're bulked up which is another side effect from low carbs, it will make you feel slightly more anxious and slightly less confident, that's why I also sometimes use reishi and L-theanine on a daily basis, if the angst starts creeping up too much. My bloodwork shows 16,15 on free test and 0,305 (I think it's around 450 on American metric?) on total test, I believe my test is on the low end and I feel absolutely horrible without all these supplements mentioned above + vitamin B1, b2 and b3 niacin + magnesium. Doctors refuse to listen and help me out, because I am still within "normal T range", I think it's odd doctors ignores my health issues and that I am forced to spend so much money on supplements just to function on a daily basis, but that's danish healthcare in a nutshell. If I were a female and asked for hormones because I identify as a male, I would get instant help for hormonal treatment. It's a wicked world we live in.

Testosterone eventually converts to estradiol and DHT. If you increase testosterone, don't be surprised about increased estradiol. It's the ratio that matters. You can reduce the conversion ro DHT or estradiol via several ways.
@donquixote...4 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's true, but your test has to be a fair bit higher for estradiol to go higher. Just using something like DHEA isn't going to get your test level high enough for that. And even if you were on TRT having higher estradiol in and of itself is not really a problem for most (maybe a few exceptions).

I don't think you realize how difficult it is to set up testosterone injections. First, only a handful of doctors, usually at specialist clinics, will even entertain the notion. Overall it took me nearly six months (in Phoenix, AZ) to finally get this organized. To say they have changed my life is an understatement. I went from being lethargic, depressed and mentally woolly to feeling alert, motivated and sharp. I now fully appreciate why many women benefit from HRT. We are not meant to run with suppressed hormone levels and it's time doctors woke up to this fact. As for negative effects, I would rather lose a few years than live out my life as a the walking zombie I had become.

My experience with supplements and elevating my T in general is initially you'll see results, then you'll actually have more problems than before due to elevated estradiol, which will then require an aromatase inhibitor for a while until your body normalizes. Best to get a doctor involved and get labs so you're not shooting in the dark guys.

Thanks, Dr. Malik... What I'd like to see is a protocol for increasing test by age, and activity levels of supplements like DHEA, pregnenalone, etc., and even glutamine. TRT isn't always an option as it is expensive, and some may just not want to go that route. And things that ordinarily might not ve recommended for younger guys, might be very beneficial for older men. Also, there are plenty of discussions about TRT protocols, and debunking test boosters, etc., but not typically an outline of what guys should be doing.

I question the validity of the so called test data of DHEA Because according to NIH-National Library of Medicine This was there conclusion; These results demonstrate acute oral DHEA supplementation can elevate free testosterone levels in middle-aged men and prevent it from declining during HIIT. Therefore, DHEA supplementation may have significant benefits related to HIIT adaptation. So if one is exercising/lifting weights they may see a benefit In addition to these recent studies of Tongkat Ali & Fadogia Agrestis supplemented have been shown to increase testosterone levels. Fadogia agrestis is reported to be beneficial for boosting testosterone levels in men by increasing the release of luteinizing hormone, which stimulates the leydig cells in the testes to produce more testosterone. It can also potentially enhance LH receptor sensitivity, making it effective in both stimulating testosterone production and improving its release mechanisms

I have problems with T injections. i get bloated, feel like i am on a roller coaster, and when its on the downside..... watch out... my Cholesterol levels do go up. i tried various versions, Depo-T being the better for sure. I got more side effects, or should say didn't see so many positives, as opposed to some friends of mine. each person is different.... Seriously NAD+ is no joke and is so great. Ipamorelan is also great too. You want a libido rush...... PT-141..... WOW becareful lol

I have just been found to have some small calcium build up in my arteries. I am 70 years old and have been lifting for over 50 years. I have always been natural but have made an appointment to see about TRT. I do have some brain fog and am losing muscle. Not very much sex drive any more. How would TRT effect my LDL? My doctor is putting me on meds to erode the calcium build up. Would it be wise to do the TRT?.

Is putting synthetic man-made drugs into your body a wise thing to do? Good question.

Wow. Nearly 9 billion dollars of supplements are sold every year. I'm probably responsible for half of those sales myself. I better get on a budget. Thanks Rena.
