Been buying it for my grandson the entire last 3 years. By buying every two weeks, he’s now net up for the entire period.

Man... I say this as genuinely trying to help you... but I would seriously consider selling and transitioning into better companies when there is a dip in the future. Disney is just not a strong money making stock. You have barely broke even in 3 years. It's too slow just look at the history. Personally 3 years ago to today... I have 4-5X my money. And I I just follow the right 2-3 people that give financial advice on KZbin.

@ it’s his decision, and he likes Disney. Not the end of the world.
@StellarSteve14 күн бұрын
Oh ok. I assumed you were making the decision on what stock to get him and trying to make him most profit. If it's your grandson that wants the stock and it's his "project" then that's more understandable. I get you now. I didn't think about that. Maybe you can also plant some seeds of ideas on other promising extremely long term investments that will diversify his project.

Damn everyone really disney, huh? I bought 2 shares in August at ~86. Im up 30% now, and at the rate it's growing, I guess I was fortunate to buy at the right time. I don't really care about political stuff. If a woke company is gonna go up 10% more than the competition, I'll buy.

Great presentation! I was watching Disney stock for a while now. I also learned from past mistakes that investing at the tail end of a CapEX cycle can be really profitable (like AMZN) while investing in the beginning of one can be costly. I need to do my own DD for Disney but it's looking promising!

Disney has not signaled it has learned why people dislike their products. Until then I’m staying away.
@mikeyman197414 күн бұрын
They won’t because they haven’t lost enough money. The overall products are trash but the parks continue to make money. However I expect that to decline in the next couple years between the cost and how Disney continues making the theme parks more frustrating with their class system.

So much of the backlash against Disney feels politically motivated. Once Disney has a change in perception, they can grow even more.
@mikeyman197415 күн бұрын
The only way Disney can change their perception is if they stop alienating most of its audience. Which they won’t. Also the economy of their park’s have hit a ceiling and when the collapses so will everything else
@fabianschobinger276515 күн бұрын
@ I do feel the new CEO gets that a big portion of Disneys overall potential audience fells alienated, and I‘m sure he will do something against it. Also, the failures of the Disney parks in recent years is more because of the failed Star Wars park than a general lack of demand. The new CEO really gives me the impression that he sees Disneys problems and adresses them adequately.
@mikeyman197415 күн бұрын
@ i have my doubts. The fact they didn’t scrap Zeglar for snow white and they are pumping out another toy story and frozen movie leads me to believe they are out of ideas but also have no intention of addressing the problem with their media. As far as the parks go I disagree that the star wars park is the main issue. While I agree it’s part of the problem. The costs to go is way too high for the average person, the genie pass has annoyed most consumers and the issue with 1/5 of Disney park staff can’t afford to live the average cost of living is turning people off. There are obviously other PR scandals but it’s continuing to stack up.
@fabianschobinger276515 күн бұрын
@ I agree with your criticism of the parks. The parks are extremely overpriced, although you could argue that this proves Disneys ability to get away with higher prices, which is a good thing for a business. Either way, there doesn‘t seem to be much room for expansion. As for the movies, although the new CEO has only taken over for a short time, I‘ve heard more critical voices (like the youtube channel critical drinker) talk about a positive development towards Disneys approach of making new films. Disney is in no way perfect at the moment, but I see a positive development over all and find Disney to be a rather lucrative option at the current moment.
@mikeyman197415 күн бұрын
@@fabianschobinger2765 time will tell but from what i’ve seen and from people i’ve talked to there is a lot of people swearing off or close to swearing off Disney. While yes you can argue raising the prices is working today I believe they have hit a ceiling and you will see a drop off as the middle and lower income families visit less and less. Right now the only saving grace was deciding to cut their Disney plus budget significantly but you have to hope they will make new content that is worth subscribing longterm for and I don’t see that happening. We’ll see how their movies go but Snow White is looking to be a roughly billion dollar loss for the company.

Problem with Disney is their content SUCKS. Little mermaid could have been a billion dollar movie pretty easily but they black washed it. Same with the upcoming Snow White movie. Don’t get me started on what they did to Star Wars. We cancelled our Disney plus when the little mermaid came out and we have 2 small children
