Here's why I love his song in whatever persona. He is not derogatory. He may well be vulgar(Depends on the listener, I don't find his work to vulgar in the least, but I get that some would) But the singer character, never presents themselves as losing *(or taking, for that matter)* value from their partner. and in his Straight work, as pissed of as he gets, it is about *actions.* So yeah. love his work.

From what I now know, he has had 2 other presentations of himself for his music. Dixon Dallas *does* seem like a purposeful re-creation of himself and a way to present his arm (and gain fame). In this and other interviews, he does seem to be acting-the-part and having-a-laugh and enjoying-himself. My opinion: Nothing wrong with what he is doing. He's a talented guy and a smart businessman.

Obviously missing the joke here. He’s created this persona and really went wild with the southern accent and playing up the Alabama bit. The lyrics are making him noticeable for now but musically he’s talented and knows how to throw a catchy tune out similar to Elton John. He’s creative and he’s all in on this character for now. Think of Dame Edna Everage or an SNL skit. It’s all just a spoof. Maybe next year he’ll invent a new character that plays emo music. Clever.

@@holdon4992 I do not know enough about him to know anything about 'personas.' However, I am aware of many singers, usually female, doing it. The Queen Bey (Sasha Fierce), Lady Gaga (Monster Mother), or every iteration of Madonna. One thing no singer has ever done is faked their sexuality. The risk in doing that is simple - being a part of the LGBT community is not something that is meant to be disposable.

You didn't ask the most important question. Is he gay or bi ? You can only take that song one way. It's a MAN singing about sex with a man. If a WOMAN was singing about having sex with a WOMAN, can only take it one way. It wouldn't come across as a man having sex with the woman since it's a WOMAN singing it in first person. Well duh. It’s a spoof on country music and its lack of gay people. The persona known as Dixon Dallas is obviously a creation and he’s all in. Think of it as an extended SNL skit. Or maybe the weird year that Joaquin Phoenix tried to do a personality disorder as a stunt. Andy Kaufman is another example of someone doing art that many people didn’t know about. Maybe he’ll spoof opera next. That would be an incredible feat to switch up to that level of musicality.
