I think my thing currently is this: Trent Baalke has been here since Dave Caldwell. I am by no means defending Doug, but this organization has failed at washing the stink off them for as long as I can remember. We can never move on if Shad keeps holding onto people who don’t produce results.
@silentgrind34
@silentgrind34 2 күн бұрын
Yeah Maybe an unpopular take: Trent Baalke is not the biggest problem Tank Bigsby, Ventrel Miller, Buster Brown, Parker Washington, maybe even Cooper Hodges come into their own and be contributors despite all being day 3 picks. The contracts for Lawrence, JHA, and Engram are great. BTJ is a fucking stud and Mason Smith…the jury is still out Free agency is a good temp effort and though I don’t like this class he’s found some studs in the past like Foye. We all agree the team is underpricing and that harkens back to what Trent said in the offseason…. Coaching.

I think you are spot on. He glazed up press and just simply says "I think he called a great game" and then immediately blames the players. Like even standard coach speak you should be taking accountability and saying it starts with coaching INCLUDING press but Doug is just in love with him. It's becoming an extremely weird dynamic

First off there is zero evidence press Taylor called plays on the second half doug never said that once also even if that’s true that means Doug called first half plays and if they scored more points the first half vs Texans browns and dolphins they win you dope so that means Doug should be calling plays

The 4th quarter play calling, not even the plays but just the pass/run decisions, were so significant. I get there are other problems but I honestly boil it down to the 3 and out when the Jags last had the ball on offense. To not run on 2nd or 3rd was wild, run the clock down especially when you were running the ball the whole game.

Jaguars would have won 12 games in 2023 if you replaced the billions of predictable runs and screens that went nowhere that press Taylor called and instead targeted Ridley engram and others more even if you hit 40 percent of the time that’s at least 7 more points per game

That was a bad call when they tried to reward bigsby punching it in. like you said he was gassed and they new exactly what was up. he would have gotten it too if sheriff has made his block. The announcers called before the play that lawrence would run on 4th. Also shout out to the defense. Buster Brown played his heart out trying to play above his ceiling. They kept it close even with Stroud being able to hit Collins for 20 yards at will penalties helped too but that defense was great. hopefully Josh Hines-Allen is good to go soon.

He might not be the problem (he certainly is apart of the problem) but at this point, he's not the solution either. Time to cut ties. Same with Baalke. Time to scorch earth, and start fresh. You can not waste another year of Trevor's talents (or feed into his regression). Time to bring someone in who believes in Trevor and can bring the best out of him. Even if that means he's not a "Generational Talent" level. Even if it's just top 10-12. We need someone who can bring out the best of Trevor and the talent around him.

Jordan, you described it perfectly when you spoke about the Miami game, Doug Pederson was throwing a tantrum, taking the ball away from Trevor. Same in the game on Sunday. Play back what was said when he was interviewed. He was just like someone who didn't like the fact his all-star QB had been paid and he's behaving like a spoilt child. I don't know Doug's history as a QB but I'm guessing he never had the same breaks as Trevor?

It’s the offensive line and players not being aggressive like the Ravens or Chiefs. The offensive coordinator needs to go to the college level a few years and bring a new offensive coordinator in to this team. I also think all coaches need to be more involved with the draft not just Trent and Doug..The OC and DC need to be very much more involved than just letting the other two make the picks?

I saw the Trevor one and why are people so soft towards him. Face it he sucks right now just admit it. Not saying he is a bad QB overall but for the love of god jags made the biggest comeback against SD and then almost beat the super bowl champs the next game. Come back the next year and just need to win one more game and clinch the playoffs. With basically THE SAME PEOPLE! The coaching sucks for sure but don't act like they are not coaching trevor better. I agree new coaches for sure for many reasons but Trevor has been here. Maybe psych post injury like many QB. If you watched the games and he is was throwing the ball 3/4 good of Sam Darnold and you were truly honest the team would be 2-2. Texans and Cleveland.

You’ve been pushing this “don’t blame the players” narrative on twitter and now on KZbin. I’m a fan of yours, but you have to stop. Did Doug Pederson fumble the ball at the 1 yard line week 1? Did Doug Pederson get an illegal shift penalty to take a TD off the board in week 1? Did Doug Pederson miss a FG week 1? Is Doug making Lawrence miss open receivers? Is he making Brandon Scherff whiff on blocks? What he said was accurate and at some point the players need to be held accountable for their performance. Is he partially to blame? Obviously. But the players hold the majority of the blane here.
@Amcbiggs
@Amcbiggs 2 күн бұрын
I was thinking the same thing with Darnold and these other guys. The game shouldn’t hinge on one or two missed throws from Trevor. (It certainly can in the grand scheme of things but) Didn’t love throw 3 picks and 4 tds? That’s a lot of opportunities AND errors. More than tlaw. But they almost came back and won. So if tlaw only gets a couple chances here and there, he better hit or it’s all his fault apparently. But the play calling is what actually put him in this anti-rhythm. We could reasonably win the next 3… but if we do it with the same play calling, Trevor has to ‘execute’ perfectly. And no one is perfect. Very little wiggle room with our schemes and inability to adapt on the fly. If Doug defended his players and behind closed doors let qb1 know we got work to do, he’ll get respect from the qb. Public shaming hasn’t ever been a successful strategy

The play calling simply just doesn’t work to our players strengths. We got to 1st and goal at the 4yrd line and we ran two hb draws with a rb that just ran 50+ yards behind an online that struggles with short yardage. Why not a toss to etienne get him in space like he is good at and same with our o line get them in space Why not a quick out or flat route to Kirk or btj like Lawrence is good at throwing and they r good at running Why not try the qb draw on second down just doesn’t make sense to me they make nothing easy for the offense

Doug won a super bowl. Haha. No, his back-up QB won that super bowl then went on to be a nobody. Did Doug get them to the SB? Maybe but I credit the QB, whose name I forgot. What else has Doug accomplished? He DID get a huge contract to coach the Jags and has repaid them by being a loser and hiring losers as coaches. What sterling accomplishments has Press Taylor accomplished in his career? I'll wait.
